Does anyone know if there is a polish that is super glossy, i.e.gives the kind of shine you get when a layer of water is on the car and the sum is shining. Kind of like a sheet of glass.

I always use Autoglym Super Resin Polish, which is very good, but was wondering if there is something even better.

I took my car to Peach, he used many strange potions - but I think the polish he used was made from fruit bat guana and the blood of virgins. Ask him what it was, he'll tell you. I can certainly vouch for the results though. Just don't ask him about T-cut, its for your own safety, lol.

T cut terrible stuff, NEVER use it on your car:no:

If you have a dark colour you need a wax with PTFE in it.

On Peach's reccomendation I have just got a tub of Collinite 476s.

Yet to try it as I have only clayed and machine buffed the roof/bonnet and one rear wing so far.

They are wearing meguires carnuba atm, but that doesn't last long so once I have the whole car buffed its gettting a couple of coats of the Collinite :)

It all depends on the colour and finish of the car. Metallics benefit from different finishing products to non metallics. Dark colours needs different treatments to light or warm colours.

Shamaz - if the car in question is the pearl white Z in your rides section, then it's all about the preparation for you my friend.

The route I would be taking for a 'wet' finish is a good wash (no wax in the shampoo), thorough clay bar treatment, wash again, light machine polish, machine glaze, then a few coats of sealant rather than a wax. All waxes are based on natural ingredients which always have an off white tinge to them which can tint/darken/discolour white paint. Two or three coats of a good sealant (I like Chemical Guys Jetseal 109, but I know that GTechniq C2 is excellent on white) 24 hours apart will look stunning.

The only 'high street' sealant I can think of is Auto Glym Extra Gloss Protection, but I find it unnecessarily hard to use - get online at http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk for some proper products ;)

And no, I don't get commission :tongue_smilie:

Shamaz - if the car in question is the pearl white Z in your rides section,

Hi - I must update my photos and thanks for the advice.

My Z is now ice white, or should I say Audi Ibis white as I had it re-sprayed last November.

As the paint is new and still squeaky clean, it looks fantastic after it's been washed and waxed. However, the 'wet' look is even more amazing, hence the question.

Lots of good advice on here so thanks to everyone.

LOL

Complete snobish myth!

T-Cut is actually a very good polish of the true name "Polish meaning it has a cut to it"

Does exactly what is says on the tin. :cool3:

T-Cut itself is fine, but it's marketing and instructions are misleading - most people think it's a one step cure for all scratches/damage/faded paint. It is a VERY aggressive polish so, yes, it will remove scratches and damage etc. but the area will also then need refining with a finishing polish, perhaps glazing, and definitely protecting with wax or sealant afterwards.

It's like anthing - if you don't use it right, you ain't gonna like the results!

(and I don't own any :tt2: )

Meguires all the way, as Stella mentions their claybar and 3 stage polix/wax is great stuff expecially on darker cars, gives a great mirror finish.

It is a VERY aggressive polish

Not really, its about the same as 3M Extra Fine Compound (which no one says is a beast) and no where near as aggressive as Fast Cut PLUS or other compounds from Meguires or Poorboys or Sonus. But the later are "Professional" and fassionable so its fine to use even the ones more aggressive than T-Cut eh ;)

Thats the problem, people slate it to the ground following the sheep on Detailing World without trying it themselves.

Now I'm not saying its the best, easyest to use or anything else. What I am saying is that people think it will eat your car and kill your wife if you so much as look at it cos its SO strong and nasty. When its not.

What do you use to get rid of the deeper scratches then.. Been using tcut and my arms are aching..lol

You wont get rid of deep scratches with polish they will have to be painted. You can try and t cut it down and use a colour polish to try and hide it but repaint is the only permanent solution imo.

thought as much but funds are low at the moment and other priorities.

Im going to take it in to get the trims painted as looking tatty, will get a price. even a machine polish might help??

MR MUSCLE Shower Shine.
