It would appear that I've started to buy everything that I sold last year all over again!!!

Anyway my question is:

What are the pros and cons of using a set of quality sillicon pipes (eg. SAMCO intake pipes) over equivelent hard pipes (eg. injen) and vice versa

same question for radiator pipes and upgraded smic pipes

cheers fellas

For the intake pipes there is no differance at all. The S/S ones look pritty and if anything conduct more heat lol!!!!!

Same for the rad pipes imo but metal ones will not burst :)

the other thing that I've been wondering is with regards to the layout of the zed radiator.

There's obviously an inlet and outlet on the rad but why is the one at completely the oposite end of the rad, requiring the long hose from bottom right to top left?

Surely it would make sense to have both inlet and outlet in the top left corner of the rad so that there is minimal distance travel to the engine and less chance of getting snagged by the fan or collapsing through heat.

I've been looking at a few NASCAR rads that have this exact setup

its so the water flows all the way through the rad, it would be no good if it was in one corner. because it wouldnt have time to cool anything. the water it pumps into the rad will get sucked out straight away.

So the way in the zed is its pumped in at the bottom or sucked. flows through the rad being cooled by the fan and outside air, then sucked or pumped out through the top hose :)

Oh yeah I appreciate that but surely the inlet could still be relocated

this is a NASCAR rad that is configured the way that I mean

Hi Tony,

If you do go for hard pipes, the intakes to the throttle bodies on the injens are shaped to create good better air flow.

If you are traveling at speed and there is good airflow to the front of the engine then the heat exchange qualities of the ally hard pipes may work to your advantage. All speculative of course. I have never seen any tests done either way.

As for the rad pipe. deffo a good idea to go for the Z1 hard pipe or equivalent as the standard ones are proned to deformation which will restrict coolant flow.

IIRC Jeff at Zedworld has posted some photos of this.

It's pretty mad really, I sold off a load of surplus parts off the LWB tail end of last year and now find myself trying to source exactly those parts again for the shortie' :hammer:

I've already bought back a set of big smic's, I'm looking for an upgraded rad after selling my KOYO (either Koyo or Japspeed), I need some new intake pipes (either SAMCO or hard pipes....I sold both), I need some new Samco hoses for the smic's, I sold my Z1 radiator hard pipe and SAMCO hoses for the rad.....I'm looking for a HKS twin induction kit after selling mine.....what a tit!!!!
