My shortie' is currently still fitted with the original small Jap spec oil cooler. It appears to have worked fine this summer but with a few choice mods on the cards shortly I want to upsize the oil cooler as a precaution.

At the moment I don't really want to be fitting sandwich plates, relocation plates etc and am looking at the simplest way to fit this cooler (below).

The braided hoses fitted to it are huge, AN12 or AN14, and I want to plumb it straight into the stock oil lines/hoses.

The braided lines are obviously screw type whilst the stock rubber hoses slide on and held in place with a jubilee clip type fastener.

- Does anybody know of a connector that will enable the AN to be used on the stock hose (ie. with a small section of rubber hose between etc)

or will I have to cut one connector off the braided hose and slide over the inner rubber house, holding in place with a jubilee clip

* I hope that ^^^^^ all makes sense...?

(or is a sandwich plate the only real option)?

I think the design of this cooler will work well with the stock bumper

i have a mocal on mine but that came with rubber tubes and fitted strait on to the existing, if you cut your fittings of and fit an end cap they should be fine

Cheers bud, that's what I was thinking :thumbup1:

I'm just fabricating some brackets for it now.

I'd forgotten how cluttered it was in the nose of a zed and of course the stock bumper can be a tad restrictive for air flow.

Hopefully mounting the cooler right up front in the lower opening of the bumper will eleviate any cooling issues in the future

Then I've got to sort the rad and intercoolers, so no doubt I'll be asking more questions very shortly

cheers mate

Wouldn't mind your input on these two options for oil cooler location

In the bottom of the front bumper as discussed previously to recieve good airflow

or Bosozuku style fixed to outside of the bumper

not exactly zed purist but a bit different and arguably more effective, if a little impractical

thoughts please

It's standard location for me mate, for my taste the other 2 are too mental.

Have you managed to find sandwich plates etc as i have a Mocal to go on but cant find the bits. I want braided lines too, are they standard size items?

Cheers mate

I'm struggling to find a sandwich plate for the zed that will fit this size AN connectors.

The pic below shows braided hoses to fit a regular sized Mocal sandwich plate (bottom) and the larger hose and connector for the ARC cooler (top).

This cooler came off a Time Attack BNR34 GTR, even the hoses themselves are massive.

think in side the bumper would look best, to big for bosozuku style + that's how i want to do my retro and i want to be the only one:whistling:

Fair one mate, I think I'll go for inside the bumper anyway as there'll be less chance of it getting knocked off or damaged
