yea mate, mine has smelled of fuel for ages from the filler cap area, checked shit loads of things then came across this, which makes sence.

i used to have to undo the cap with the engine on, then redo it. solved the smell for an 1hr or so :-( but used to make the back of the car smell behind the seats as its a SWB. thought at 1st the leak was inside under the parcel shelf!!!

Not seen any zeds with this fitted when imported here, defo an Aussy thing, be interested see one.

see my comment above Jeff..... any light on this?? the smell was literally from the petrol flap area, but smelled like it was inside the car under the parcel shelf. once i put my nose up against the flap with the car running, it smells very strong.

are you sure that yours has the added insert so that you can only use small pump fittings?

 

mine is just standard....

 

I'd try taking the cover off under the spare tyre (to the pump) and check for a smell or leak there....

Check the condition of the filler pipe to the tank there is a cover over it ( if it is still there) this can sometimes cover up corrossion or be the victim itself.
