Front 2 injectors not working???

Finally after a year engines in all fitted looks very pretty even turned over first time. YAY!!!!!

However front 2 injectors wont fire??

Checked coil packs there working fine, havent tested power yet as it was getting dark but wondered is there any common fault or newbie mistake ive made fitting that would cause only the front 2 injectors not to fire??

thanks Craig

PS still sounded bloody awsome on 4 lol

Update:

Changed ecu and still no joy so I take it that's deffo the wiring loom to blame, as a temp fix can I just run new cables from the ecu and tape the old ones up?? Until I can repair the loom properly???

Geez mate yer should't have to go that far back, certainly back the rear of the Plenum i would have thought to replace wiring.

You are certain it's injectors and not coil packs arn't you? cos if it was coil packs, then the PTU sends signals to each one see, so it could have been that.

What made you think those 2 injectors won't fire?

Checked coil packs by removing them and putting a plug in them and holding againt plenum, both packs fire fine, checked ohms on injectors both at 12 ohm so there ok, changed ecu and still no difference :(

In that case then I'd swap your CAS for a known good one.

If this is faulty then usually injectors will not operate, i've not known before if it can effect just 2 of them, but unless you can see some damaged wiring to the injectors, I'd change the CAS over to at least eliminate it.

Cheers chap thinking about it I don't think I've checked the wiring and plug on the cas I'll take a look in the morning

Hi Mate,

Wiring as never been something im great at but this is what i would try if i thought my wiring was dodgy,

One side of the injector connector should be live and stay live even without engine on.

The other side should be a signal (trigger)

So if you use a voltmeter and find one side is live, The other will be the signal (trigger)

use a volt meter (and a longer piece of wire if your volt meter wires wont reach) and put it on the signal (trigger) wire on the injector connector plug,

then take off the ecu and find the wires which go to the ecu connector: looks like: 101 (w) for cylider1 and 110 (wg) for cylinder2. on the wiring diagram,

Put your volt meter on beep mode,

Touch one side of volt meter to injector connector (and the added wire if it wont reach)

and the other side of the volt meter to the ecu connector 101 (w) and 110 (wg)

If it beeps you know the problem aint the loom, If it dont beep shouldnt be to hard to run 2 new wires. or find the break in the wires.

Hope it helps you,

Just read previous reply, looks like groover as allready said this but an easier way,

Told you was not great with wiring lol.

sorry.

Getting nowhere fast now :(

Right decided quicker way to test loom was to pull back sheathing on injector loom plug wire and test while car was running and both are getting signal ???? So other then cas can anything else effect only 2 injectors as I'm now out of ideas and proper pissed off with this car :( can I drive on 4 cyls?? To mot centre?? Or will I just destroy it

Craig

Stupid as this may sound, check the plugs in those two cylinders if you've made changes. They get fouled up beyond use really easily if you keep trying to make the engine run without them firing. When my starter motor went, it had been an intermittent fault right up to the point where it just gave up working, so convinced it would eventually fire, we kept trying, in the end it didn't fire until it got the new starter and then it was coughing and spluttering all over the place, took the plugs out and they were fubarred!

Change the CAS mate, as Smithy said, apart from fuelling theres not alot else it could be.

I wouldnt advise driving it on 4 cyl, you could end up washing the bores with fuel and making it worse.

Anyone local to aylesbury got a spare working cas unit or this heap of shit is going on eBay had enough now

Not gonna make it to JAE, Ive walked away from the car now before i take a hammer too it.

good move....

I will be replacing my CAS over the weekend to try a fix a similar problem...

if it makes no difference then I will assume my CAS is OK and I can post it to you.... but like i said I will have to confirm first and it won't be posted until Monday...

DEFEATED and GUTTED

right ive given up now I cannot understand why its not working.

Ive checked coilpacks and they are firing with old plugs, Bought new plugs anyway just incase.

Ive checked the Ohms on the 2 injectors both at 12Ohm so there ok.

Ive done a continuity check on the loom thats fine.

Ive even run a bypass straight from ECU and still no luck.

Ive changed ecu no difference.

Ive checked the injectors are not blocked by putting current through them and accidently flooding the engine, oopps bit smokey for a bit but she cleared.

Ive done a compression check on all cylinders all over 160 so there fine.

ive removed the cas and manually turned it while ignition on and checked for injector firing and it does so im asuming the cas is fine.

Ive checked the wiring to the series 2 PTU all is fine.

im all out of ideas now?????

wont be getting her to JAE this year either, im so close to just giving up on this car and breaking her and try and get some money back. Today has really taken its tole on my enthusiam now :(

:(

When you did this you will hear injector firing, however are you certain you heard those particular 2 cos it ain't easy at all.

Know when i've done it yeah you hear the faint clicks, but i couldn't tell if all were or not.

Well im assuming so, gonna get another cas to make sure i guess, other then that im just gonna have to leave her till the end of the month until i can afford to get her to zedworld, unless anyone more knowlegable then me can be pursuaded to come and have a look coz im broken I cant figure it out. feel like just getting rid of her as spares or repair at the min im that pissed off with her

sounds like you need a counsellor...Mmmmmmm

put some candles out and sit down and have a little talk with her.....

kidding aside, once she is running fine again you will look back and wonder what all the fuss was about..:)

BUT... if you have fallen out of love.... well it might be time to part ways.... :(
