Rough acceleration and idling (minor). But cured when ECU is reset. I find that the running of my engine becomes rougher over time but everytime I reset my ECU (disconnect battery) the engine runs so much smoother and revs cleaner especially at higher revs! It then becomes rough again so I reset the ECU and so on .......... The boost remains the same etc. I thought the ECU learns and improves the running of the engine not make it worse. Any knowledge in this area?

For those who are having probs or havn't ever done this I suggest you give it go and see if you notice any difference!

If your car is detonating, the ECU will try and compensate by dropping into safety boost and retarding the timing. I believe that some of these 'bad' settings are stored in the ECU and will be used next time you run the car.

Resetting the ECU will clear all these 'bad' settings and the car should run OK for a while. I can't imagine it will do the car much good though, as the ECU changed the settings for a reason.

If I was you, I wouldn't be trying to run higher boost on a car that is detonating. You could try running Super if you aren't already. Failing that, I'd drop the boost down until you find out what's causing the problem.
