hey guys, as smooth as the car is, i'm sure i have a slight vibration from the passenger side rear, i've not so much as even looked at it, it could just be a wheel needing balanced, anyway, are there common things to look out for???

wheel bearing/driveshafts etc??? any help is much appreciated, oh, the car is a TT auto (import)

thanks, Ryan.

oh, only happens above 40mph as well.

Prop centre bearing shot mate. Usually happens at over 30 mph, but goes away at pushing 50.

hmmm, i had a similar problem on a 200sx years ago, is there anyway to check if it's this before i replace it?? i assume i just look for play in it while on ramps??

I would of said the prop bearing aswell. seems common now the cars are getting older i think it works out about the same to get a 1 peice prop and get a good gain from it.

oh also, when i slip the car into neutral at speed there is still vibration.

hmmmm, searched ebay for a prop bearing, anybody got a link for where i can get one??

Prop vibration you tend to feel through the centre of the car, through the seat and floor. Rather than from one side of the car.

Have your wheels balanced and checked for play in the arms first. Depending on wether the car has the heatshield in place the propshaft bearing can be visually checked - but may need exhaust dropping if heatshield is still in place.

MJP (in traders section) for all OEM parts.

yeah first thing i'm gonna do is check the wheels/suspension, it may well be the centre of the car, hard to tell when you're over on the right, then everything feels like it's on the left :) the vibration isn't very intense, just really frequent if that makes sense, like when driving over cobbles :)

cheers for that dude, would have thought i'd hear the wheel bearing, although i suppose that's not always the case, will get it checked out, is there no uk suppliers (other than Nissan of course) for this part???

Zedworld sell a one piece propshaft...... Jeff/Jamie Prices ?

what's the difference?? i assume a 1 piece doesn't need a centre bearing?? any other benifits??

  • Author

cool, cheers for that dude, well, i guess i'll get everything else checked first, then replace what needs replacing :) oh, i assume if the centre bearing is knackered i'll be able to feel play in the prop??

possibly, if you can then great, but it's just 2 bolts that hold the bearing on to the chassis, would be worth undoing them, but be careful the prop doesn't pop out of the gearbox as you will loose oil, the prop will drop down in the middle then you can have a proper feel of the bearing, but also be careful as the prop is quite heavy mate...
