Now , I have very little service history for this car but the last pertinent garage invoice tells me that three spark plugs were renewed in 2008, some 8000 miles ago.

On a whim today, I removed three plugs (two NGK and one Bosch) to check on their condition (see photos), obviously I don't know how long the three plugs that weren't changed in 2008 have been in the car.

Looking at their condition, do you think that a new set of plugs is in order and again looking at their condition, do you think that the engine is running ok?

I've got a small idling problem (as many have) but the car boosts and runs very well. :D

Cheers - Andy (Hope that the photos aren't too big)

The one on the right is a wrong plug......

I'm guessing that that's one of the three which were replaced in 2008.

yep, not a long enough reach on that bosch plug (doesn't sit into the cylinder far enough to be fully efficient), get yourself a fresh set, at least you know they are nice and new then, or, if on a budget, just replace the bosch's with NGKs, but I would go for a fresh set TBH... And with a bit of luck, you may find it will help your dodgy idle too... Whoever did it has put in "equivalent" spark plugs that are incorrect...

I would stick six new NJK's in and as Tony said the one on the right is the wrong plug!

Yup - I agree with Gary and Tony.....

.....always keep to the original spec plugs IMO!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
