afternoon all! I had a little play last weekend with various bits and bats and really decided that I wanted to give me front as as little grooves and lines as possible. im the kinf of guy who lies to flow with a cars original lines and make things just a lot less messy, anyway, I decided I wanted to go with a non TT bumper so thought I would pop on some pics of what I did and my new intercooler ducting and how i sealed off the old intercooler scoops. opinions welcome :)

Looks good - the N/A bumper is less fussy than the TT bumper - agreed.

Not sure how effective your piping is though - looks a little restrictive? Would it not have been possible to feed the air from the lower air scoop and increase the catch area? But leave the upper scoop to feed the radiator etc.

Of course, you could just cut some holes in it where the SMIC's are! I'll get me coat..

I guess I could have but then I didnt want a huge set of pipes just poking out of the lower scoop. ive got the entire top scoop clear too for the rad so thought this was the best compromise. is this a bit of a poor do then in terms of cooling? its been plaguing me since I got the car whether to go FMIC or SMIC. the only other bumper I like is the terminator one ive seen as thats not too fussy either.mhmmmmm

agreed i think you will suffer there with the air flow to your intercoolers, not for me im afraid. if you converted to a fmic then thats the only way to do it properly i think.

seems odd that you would want to do this to tidy it up then have that ducting in view

up to you & if you like it then thats all that counts :flowers:

not sure why you really wanted to remove the OEM 89spec front bumper purely on the basis of the grooves for the intercoolers.

Also the way your ducting is your not going to get the best airflow over the intercoolers if your getting any air flow at all, first your trying to compress the air coming in via the ducting, then its got to direct it self with out help down into a large chamber and then through the intercoolers.

If you keep with the ducting, it might be an idea to see about putting some fans in place to help suck the air through, if it was as simple as just pipe work, a lot of super cars wouldnt have the fans to help the air flow.

Im sure though with the correct application of piping and some use of fans it could work just as well. or ideally you would be better off going FMIC.

Cheers for the input I really appreciate it :)

I've restored and owned minis for a long time and my last Alfa gta was a more out of the box car. I'm learning though :)

What are the fm's like to install? I need a crossflow design yeah ?

they are generally foirmed the same as teh side mounts its just they are welded together in one unit. check out czp and zed1 for some ideas.

NA bumpers don't look good.
