Made the journey down to Emerald yeaterday afternoon. Left Glasgow at 1430 and arrived at 2200 last night. I was a bit apprehensive as the car had not been on any decent journeys for quite some time but it ran very smoothly. Kept it below 3000rpm the whole way down.

It is now in the hands of Dave Walker at Emerald and on the rollers at the moment. Will try and get a couple of photo's when i pop back!!

Not really bothered about chasing big power figures i just want the car to be quick and driveable!!

Will let you know how i get on later!

Well the road trip has just finished. Glasgow to Norfolk then onto Reading, Southampton, York and back to Glasgow!!

Gave the car to Dave Walker at about 0930 and after he gave an explanation of what he was going to be doing i left him to it!

Prior to going down i thought my fuel pump was going to cause me issues and unfortunately my uprated one did not arrive in time for the session so it was still running the stock pump. When i got back Dave said that it was struggling to get fuel towards the top end and it was down to the fuel pump.

He set up a couple of different Maps for me to run as you can see on the Dyno sheet. The revs have been limited to 6200 until i get the new fuel pump installed. He has installed a 3rd Map that has the uprated fuelling map on it so i can change over to this once the pump is installed. I had no idea what boost levels the turbos would be able to produce and safely run and i thought he had set it up for only 15PSI but looking at the Dyno chart it seems to be a map at 15PSI and one at 20 PSI. They are GT675RS turbos and after a bit of research i think they can handle a few more PSI but i am happy with what i have just now.

The car is very quick and drove faultlessly for the rest of the journey. The only thing i want looked at, is the gearchanges that are quite stiff. I think this is down to the shortshifter but will get it checked out.

Nice figures mate,Dave Walker is a great guy but talks another langauge, jeez hes a clever guy and when he starts trying to explain what hes doing he may aswell be speaking Latvian . Im glad your cars running well with the Emerald system, you opted for any of its features,ie traction control or full throttle gear shifts ?

I am running a racelogic traction control system that was already on the car prior to fitting the Emerald. It is working fine as we forgot to turn it off prior to starting the car running on the dyno and it kept cutting in!! Soon as i turned it off we had no problems. I will be looking at what else it can do once i have run the car for a little while to make sure i have no niggling faults before building up the rest of the system.

Know what you mean about Dave!! I explained that he was the expert and he had no chance of me understanding half of what he was saying and i left him to work his magic!! Top bloke.

Nice!!

Epic trip too!!

Yeah, the Z had not turned a wheel for about a year so was bricking it on the way down!! Nothing like a little 1000 mile trip to ease her in and empty my wallet of petrol money!!

From what im told it can take place of the speed sensitive steering, rev limit, traction control, full throttle gearshifts, boost control if required.its a great bit of kit and way better to run than the AEM system, where else could you get so involved with your cars mapping and get such good advice with the guys that map and develop it ??

Yeah, I have got it doing the boost control and rev limit come to think of it. I like the sound of full throttle shifting but need to get my gearchange issue sorted first! The longer 1st, 2nd and 3rd of the os giken box combined with the leader gears has got the car accelerating very quickly and it would be great if I could keep the throttle planted!

Glad you had a good day down there Bazz, Dave really is a top bloke. Once you get the fuel pupm sorted we can even out the boost dip in the higher boost setting which will remove the torque dip too.

Full throttle shift is ready to go but you need to fit a clutch switch as your car didn't have one.

Did the other guys tidy up the cables etc. for you yet?

How is the drivability?

Car drives great and will be good to get the fuel pump fitted to iron out the dips. Do emerald do the clutch switch or will i get one from racelogic? My Racelogic has the launch control feature which i would also like to use.

Its a standard nissan part on manual cars. Just need to get one off a breaker is easiest. The emerald will have launch control too so may be easiest to use it for TC/Launch too maybe then its all integrated into one place.

Also, with your gearing as it is, we can do gear specific boost control to limit boost in lower gears if you want?

So many options! I take it the Emerald will use the wheel sensors that the racelogic uses?

I will get a clutch switch and once I have got the fuel pump fitted and the other little niggles sorted will need to get the other bits added. The car grips very well and had very little wheelspin although it had a bootfull of luggage and a passenger to weigh it down!

Yes, currently I just wired it to the gearbox speed sensor so it can do gear detection (speed vs RPM) but for TC etc. it will need all 4 ABS sensors wired up.
