As I understand it my pearl paint has a solid yellow paint code underneath then the pearl code is sprayed over it but what is the solid yellow paint code anyone?

I just checked what is listed for your motor, all the info I have is

 

YELLOW PEARL EH7

 

It doesn't list a separate base or effect coat, I would assume that is the colour coat they list. Maybe worth getting 1/2 litre mixed up and do a spray test.

But remember that is proper paint codes. If you are just looking for touch up, then the code will most likely be different.

I know the pearl code but the car is sprayed with a solid yellow underneath its only the last coat that is pearl so I need that code and its for spraying not touch up

Does the EH7 get you the pearl then? Its the only one listed on the computer - I hoped it was the colour coat code, never mind.

EH7 is the pearl colour that is the top coat but the car is sprayed with a solid yellow under this

Pretty sure the pearl is the basecoat then laquer over that. Normally with light colours and especially yellow a white primer is better to bring out the colour.

Yours is not a three stage pearl its too early, they are only recently being used. The pearl is mixed in with the basecoat, so as Groover pointed out it is basecoat then clear. the clear coat will "bring out " the pearl effect.

Ok well in my engine bay and door shuts it is a solid yellow and after asking someone about this I was told that is how they did it so may have been a respray in there that was 3 stages

Might be worth going to a Nissan dealer with you vin number and see what they come up with, every source i have checked listing all colour codes state up to sept 91 EH7

No mention of any other code or colour, so either Nissan only sprayed the door shuts and engine bay in EH7 without the pearl added or its been resprayed.

 

Mine originally was pearl white, but under the bonnet is definitely not pearl, its just white lol and that hasnt been touched since it was made.

Exactly what I am saying the outside is eh7 pearl I know this however under that is a solid yellow which is in the engine bay and door shuts which is not eh7 and that from what I know and speaking to a certain person at at japfest is what is under the pearl paint which will be the basecoat which is what I'm after. No vin number is going to tell me what colour code that is hence asking on here

Your best bet is to take it to a paint supplier who has a scanner, they will be able to tell you exactly what has been used and the make up of the mix. My local supplier has one but your a bit far away. If its been painted it is the only way to find out what was used.

Had a look this morning and my vin plate has EM3 on it for the paint code?

I checked all the available 300ZX colour codes, and that one is not listed on the computer for some reason :headvswal

 

Deffo a job for the dealer or a colour test at a paint shop.

 

I even searched across the whole Nissan fleet, and that code doesn't show on any. Is it a special / one off by Nissan?

Lol thanks I remember trying to find it before and I couldnt I just don't know then what solid yellow codes do Nissan do as I had eh7 mixed up before and it seemed to light for mine however my thinking is with a solid yellow underneath it will make the pearl darker and therefore match mine

Understood completely. Take the EM3 code into a paint shop, ask to stick it in the machine and see what colour it gives out. Might be what you need....

 

Hold on a mo - just checked all Nissan yellows again. There is an EH3 "dark yellow".

Im not sure but could you not get a flat non pearl yellow uk and i think specail order eh7 pearl as well . I went to a local automotive paint shop to respray a door mirror asked for eh7 and they gave me 3 cans 1 base yellow 1 whiteish pearl top coat and laquer .Not an exact match but not too bad .
