Whilst my engine is out, im going for a full paint job.

The car is currently black but ive decided to change. There just seems to be too many black ones about.

Anyhoos, i was thinking of a light grey. Not as dark as the stock gunmetal, but way darker than silver.

But i dont want a dull boring grey grey. :)

In my head i see a super shiny pearly grey lol, prob with a blue pearl. However, after hours on google i cant find what i'm after. The closest i can find is Ferrari or TVR grigio titanio or Dodge Viper steel.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Any photo shop masters out there than can rustle something up?

Thanks

Where do you want to go in relation to those examples? More grey, more blue?

TVR is nice.

I guess the TVR is pretty close. I would reckon a slight blue pearl would get me where i want.

I just fear spraying the car and it just looks boring. Gotta get the colour spot on

Damn, that TVR is brutal.

Good colour choice. Im not a fan of the stock 300zx grey at all, but aftermarket greys looks great.

there is also a later model 300zx Grey which looks much better too.

I think the cobra is a little too grey

Yeah, the stock 300zx grey is duuuuuuuuuuuuuuulllll (sorry grey zed owners )

I'll have a search for the newer grey, but ive been up to Nissan to check out the grey 370z and GTR but they aint what i'm looking for.

Mercedes and Mazda have a nice grey but nothing wow. I dont know whether i can use them as a base and add a slight silver/blue pearl?

I'm meeting Mr bodyshop man on Monday so i'll find out what's possible

This looks the business. Looks almost chrome. No idea what colour it is though - it defo dont look stock. Maybe just the photo??

i like the grey that some of the new m3s come in, looks really nice

mikenewlipedited-14.jpg

Yeah, i like that. Just needs a bit more.........something???

:confused1:

few carbon touches would sit well on the colour

Yeah, thats a good idea. With the M3 you can get carbo kidney grille, wing mirrors, splitters, roof etc ...CSL style.

I dont think that would work with the zed. Exterior wise, there aint much in the way of carbon trim other than ebay tat.

I really want the car to look like Nissan sent it out the factory that way.

Lol. Tasteful

But it does fit your colour brief.... grey/blue/pearl :tt2:

I realized when I posted a colour thread that everyone (including me!) takes inspiration from other cars, which meant the colour had already been done.

To be original, I had to look elsewhere, look outside the box, so to speak.....

:lol::lol:

I like your originality

true, theres a few things im thinking off, gonna see if i can get carbon scuttle panels made and a few other small inconspicuous pieces, such as the plates the wing mirrors attach to etc

are you doing it yourself;)

Hell no!

If I wanted to wreck it, I'd drive it into a wall:tank:

Palladium grey on new mercs is nice.

Funny you should say that. I stopped at the merc garage on the way home from work and thought the same

I would get a photoshop done of all the different greys you like, its hard to tell what your car will look like until you see the colour on it!

Anybody fancy a go? :)
