If you can afford the car and to run it, i'm sure the price on the tax disc is not an issue to the owner. Glad I haven't got to pay that tho!

Paying that amount of tax would hurt me nearly as much as my foot is lol.

Its the first year rate thats made is so high. Subsequent years will be approx half that amount. It came in from Apr 2010.

It does for me - £460 per year for the GTR :mad2:. I bought mine in Mar 2010 so managed to avoid this first year car tax boll*cks

Very valid point lol god how the other half live :crying:

its a 2wd 3.8 so band L, that list showed it £790, obviously not been updated to reflect new prices but that is awful!

And all to support the sales of new cars eh... I suppose if your spending 80-120k on a car, best part of 1 more isnt going to hurt!

I'm sure a deal would be negotiated at the dealership where the buyer gets the showroom tax wavered i.e the dealership take the cost.

Yeah its dealer tax. I went to look and test drive the 370Z couple weeks ago the tax on that was £1000!!

LOL! I think when I saw the Mercedes SLS it was £1400 for the first year!!

Phil beat me to it - the first year is high then it drops back to £435 or something like that.....

Richard:yes:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Exactly - you negotiate an "on the road" price with the dealer so you don't actually pay over the £800-odd yourself as it's all included in the cost of the car.

So whatever way it's done, the disc still shows the full tax amount!
