Recently bought car.History unknown.

Mileage unknown.Exhaust clean,no oil or water use.Appears to be stock.Everything

appears to work,apart from 0-60 is about

9.00 seconds.UK registered car.Will quite

happily do 130+ maybe more.Manual box.

Had a look at turbo`s,oil leak on top of

drivers side one(very difficult to get to this one)Other one,visually ok.

Boost gauge moves to negative side instead of positive.Car had been standing several months before I bought it.Had Nissan consult

treatment,no faults highlighted.Just a quote

for taking engine out and replacing turbos,

which it "might" be,not very confidence inspiring.Anybody got any sensible ideas?

Possibility that one turbo has seized ...

If you have had a turbo failure, your looking at about £650 for the labour alone, then iether new turbos or uprated units.

 

That can range from about £1800 - £5k

i know a man who changes the turbos with engine in car for around £300 notes is that sweet or what. very cleaver man worked on nissans 300s for years only found him a couple of weeks back. list of prices for work carried out soon to be posted.

MarkTT - get yourself a Warranty on the car - there was some discusson about it the other day and then claim the turbos off them after about 6 weeks or so (just so they don't wiggle out of it by claiming that the fault existed before you got the warranty). Mine were replaced a couple of years back after I had a seized DS turbo and I only ended up paying £250 of the original £1250 bill and this was with Nissan Dunstable. My warranty is for unlimited claims of up to £1000 each, after which I pay the remainder.
