Hi, so im on to my second z now and finally getting together enough money to smarten it up. i want to start by getting the interior fully done out in leather, as unfortunatly i have the cloth now.

i see many of you who have done it and was hopeing for some advise on the best and most cost effective ways of getting it done, as i went to a professional place today and they told me that im looking from £3k up??

obviosly i love the car but we are getting near to its total value here? and im after respraying it soon to..

iv seen on ebay these kits that look nice in the pictures but can i really do it to a good standard? or can i buy this kit to give it to someone who can do it well??

iv got a manual 94 2+2

thanks alot!! :tank:

You can buy a good leather kit from the zcentre, stitched in the right places and fit yourself for around £300 or there are kits available on ebay, not stitched but cut to size, again fit yourself. Its not that hard to diy, but you will save alot of money that way.

There might even be a member in your area willing to help.

£3k :o ok, clearly they did not want the job and were giving you a rediculous price.

Professional complete retrims seem to typically come in at about £1.5k - thats seats and all the panels.

The Seat kits you can buy tend to be pretty good. Its a fair amount of work to fit, an entire weekend fighting with metal rings and springs but it is reasonably straight forward for a novice to get a quality fit from them.

The Panels are harder to get a decent job done. You basically remove the old material and use it as a template for your new material - then lots of glueing, stretching and swearing.

Unfortunatly without a professional trimmer sewing the pieces for proper fitment around contours you cant expect a perfect finish.

I've fitted a complete Seat kit (Imported from the U.S) and was very happy with the job.

I've also retrimmed the panels of three different Z's, and was never 100% happy with any of them - But they did look a lot better than the original tweed ofcourse.

I've yet to see a perfect non-stitched DIY panel retrim yet.

For My slicktop I opted to have the panels profesionally done - Black leather with blue stitching, and it really is worth having a professional work his magic on them imo. Unfortuantly I no longer have the trimmers contact details, but many others have used trimmers and my be able to provide contact details.
