what on earth do you need that for?

Is that not to power the flux capacitor?

i think its part of the ejector seat mechanism, after all thats why we have targa roofs isn't it? (well some of us)

HA! ejector seat is the one! lol. in all honesty its to go on the front of a forage harvester to switch off the flow of hydraulic fluid (by means of the solenoid, which we have already) when a roller (with a small magnet on it) reaches the top of its travel. it normally uses a push switch similar to a brake pedal switch, but this keeps failing. so we want to try a non contact method. and also the mechanic wants to avoid using a relay (as we have all suggested) any ideas? cheers

How about a magnetic Reid switch for a door contact connected to a 12v relay !

lol, knew someone would suggest a relay, for some reason the mecghanic wants to avoid using one?????? cheers

Try one off a 24 v commercial vehicle? Off a bin lorry or crane / HIAB. I could have acquired one for you up until last week too.
