Remove the trim on the tailgate and undo the screws and nuts that hold the spoiler

The spoiler will now be held with glue and using some fine strong string start pulling of the spoiler and slide in the string between the spoiler and tailgate and using a sawing action cut threw the glue to release the spoiler

Clean up the tailgate and refit the new spoiler

Nah I'd try bug and tar remover mate, either turtle wax or Auto Glym I have found to be the best so far for removing sticky stuff like that.

gary, when you refitted the spoiler did you have to clamp it into position whilst the sikaflex or tigerseal set ?? or did you stud the spoiler and put a couple of nuts on as well. the reason i ask is i have just trial fitted mine and it seems to be out on dimensions ( slightly)

You will never get a perfect fit I drilled new holes and used good self tapping screws to pull the spoiler down to the tailgate. Then any spaces that are left are filled and painted.
