hi guys,

i have had a couple water pumps fail and i think they have been down to my viscous spinning and wobbling about,

Problem is tried another viscous and all seems ok, exept the viscous is really loud exspecially when i come off the throttle on the over run, its all you can hear,

is this normal drove a few zeds and never heard the viscous so loud before, do you guys think this one is sticking a little and working to much, or do you think i have drove a few zeds with weak viscous,

Also have a problem if i put my foot down the car go's to around 3000 revs then pauses for a second then go's again for a bit then pauses, at what seems the same revs in each gear,

I have a profec 2 boost controller if i turn it off it go's into saftey boost 7 ish psi but dont get the pauses in revs anymore,

had the normal hesitation with dodgy connections but this one seems weird,

Sorry for the long thread any help appreciated, thank you.

Just hope one day i can get in my car and not think whats gonna break next,

Put some coins the other day near the ashtray they started rattling all i thought straight the way is what now,

Every other car i have had you just drive them, sure with the zed im finding things to fix.

Once you have had plenum off and bypass all the crap, if you ever take it off again its so much easier, you probly know this anyhow, All them silly water pipes, egr,

When i did mine got rid of nearly all the vacum hoses too, exept boost gauge and couple others, looks a lot less cluttered.

Where do you reckon its leaking on yours on one of the main gaskets.

Goodluck with your plenum,

Completely agree, it's a never ending list of things to fix is a 300zx, and we're stupid enough to own 2 of them :punk:

Yeah I'm looking forward to completing the plenum swap, at this point it may be a leaking pipe, or it could more likely be one of the joining points of the two plenums, the previous owner (OR his mechanic) was a numpty and has pulled half the threads out of the plenum and lower plenum by over-tightening, Mikey and I have managed to stem most of it temporarily, and I can still boot it etc. but I just won't feel right until it's fixed, and I have a stalling problem when braking at low revs, which I think is down to the boost leak I can hear but can't see. I'm picking up the last parts I need to do the swap next weekend, so hopefully all will be well with the world again.

Good luck with the boost issue

The threads make it worse where their alloy, Hope you get it sorted,

Goodluck on your boost leak too

Took mine apart today no vacum pipes are leaking and no boost leaks,

Changed the hoses running to both actuators, Mission getting pipe on drivers actuator:sweatdrop:

took the solenoid apart on the boost controller, not much in their to be honest,

But put it back together and put me foot down 22psi turned boost controller off still over boosting, Taking it apart must of really wrecked it now.

Changed nipple on solenoid from no port to nc port and only safety boost gotta b something wrong with the solenoid/controller,

Well with 22psi their was no power / power issues it was just power but will be leaving it on safety boost untill sorted cause no it wont last long running that.

Looks like im just gonna have to get another boost controller, And too then safety boost it is:sad:

What settings are you running ? if its not set up properly it will overboost, spike then go into warning which will temporarily reduce the boost to a safe limit,im just wondering if your settings are wrong ?

Hi mate tried all differant settings, Thing is ever since i bought profec never had much control over boost, At one point highest boost i could ever reach was around 12.5psi whatever settings is was on even asked on forum tried everything took blitz dump valves off and boost went straight up, Dont know why they stopped the boost.

Then i managed to control boost a bit, and settings seemed ok, then the other day started this power / no power thing,

and now i took solenoid apart dont seem to be doing anything.

Whatever settings put it on, its either max boost the turbos will go to,

or turn pipes around and 7psi, (other day was boost controller on car messed around controller off 7psi)

What i think im gonna do is put standard solenoids back on and maybe boost jets had these before and to be honest i prefer them to profec,

Or try another type controller mate as think its a blitz one or hks and his seems to be much better then the profec,

Thanks 4 reply.

Well guys what do you think on this, Taken the boost controller solenoid apart again,

Inside their are two black dots, Made of rubber when you push them down it directs air through a differant route,

Then there is this part what pushes rubber spots down,

Got my 12v charger and touched the wires which makes it click, but the valve part inside is only moving Very slightly and when you put it all together and touch the wires while blowing through it the air is not being directed through the other route like when you push the dots with a screwdriver ,

Would how i have tested it be the right way to do it, Anyone got any other ideas what to do with it,

Or have i found my fault,

Also searched a bit on google, to see if anyone else as had problems and seems a few have failed,

I just hope it is that,

Thank you 4 looking.
