That first eBay zed as said is a UK spec so I'd put money on some rust lurking somewhere that you can't see from the outside or may already have filler in the arches. I would never get a UK zed some guys on here may have rare nice ones but if suggest they get on some ramps and do a thorough check

Jap zeds can have just as much rust mate, just because its jap spec doesnt make it immune to the rust bug, take a look at my first zed, this is a JAP spec N/A

been fairly lucky with mine, the rear of the sills has had work done before but nothing major :

Yep just consider now long a jap spec has been in the UK and miles covered but 20 years for a UK spec is pretty inevitable. I've seen some good looking UK specs from the outside however looking more closely shows the truth

well, once ive welded mine up and sorted out the driver side sill, and the bit in the passenger side wheel arch, mine will actually be rust free again, so hasnt done to bad for a UK spec.

Likewise mate - mine has received a nice clean bill of health; both from my local garage and again from JeffTT when he undersealed it for me...............:smartass:

As for mileage, Quavey is spot on. Buy an older car on condition rather than mileage as, unless the car comes with full history and MOTs backed up by bills, then take the mileage with a pinch of salt.

Mileage is only relevant on a newer car; where it can have a serious effect on the valuation. 150k miles on a 20 year old 300zx should be expected by now - any examples that have less than that without history or proper documented proof should be treated with caution.

And as for "fresh" imports - thay always seem to have "57k miles" on them. Hmmmmm....:whistling:

The thing is, the VG30 engine is remarkably tough and this is its problem. They go on and on, even in spite of poor maintenance (it's a Nissan after all); which can encourage people on limited budgets to skimp on servicing etc - just because the car is running OK. But with proper maintenance 200k miles (even on a TT engine) should be achievable.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

yeah suppose you're right about condition, my brother is right into classics, proper old stuff too, so for him the mileage is completely out the window!!!
