I picked up on this from threads like

http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/ubbforum/Forum6/HTML/000391.html and the fact that the bloke who put the last set of tyres on saidc "something's wrong - you've got uneven wear"

Leigh gave me a useful place (ProTyres in Slough) so I am off to get the full monty alignment check done.

I have found settings for camber, caster, kingpin inclination, toe-in, tie-rod length & turning angle for front wheels (pages FA-9 and FA-10, plus FA-24 and FA-25.

Also Rear Wheel runout, camber, toe-in (RA-6, RA-7, RA-34, RA-35)

And lastly a bunch of stuff about HICAS on ST-97 and ST-98.

Three questions:

a) which are the important ones to tell the alignment place to check?

c) my car is a 1990 Japanese import - the rear tyres are different to Euro. Does anyone know the correct settings for a J car?

d) what happened to b) - oh, there it is

Many thanks, kind peeps

Hi gio

most places will check & adjust front & rear tracking camber & castor, these being the most important & generally the only ones directly adjustable.

tracking & camber are the worst offenders for scrubbing tyres, and if out of tolerence should be adjusted to spec values, castor is what gives the wheels a self straightening feel (think shopping trolly wheels! smile.gif ) and does not really cause tyre wear, but can cause the car to "wander" slightly, or give a heavier feel to the steering wheel. not quite as crucial as other specs.

sorry, dont know if specs are any different for jap.

hope this helps
