As the weather was nice, I thought I would take the Z for a spin along the by-pass. at around 5,500 RPM under full boost, WHAM! sudden loss of power,:scared:

It felt as though I was only running on 2 or 3 cylinders and she was really shuddery. Brought the speed to 20 MPH with no load and everything was smooth, but as soon as I applied any sort of load she just ran awful. managed to limp home in second and third gear so as to keep the rev' down, once on the drive she ticked over and revved like a sewing machine,:confused1: any ideas? this has got me worried to say the least.

Blown a pipe off, causing massive boost leak.

Check the intercooler pipes, favourite when giving it some beans.

:thumbup:Cheers Jeff, she is cooling down in the garage at the moment.

I will take a look first thing in the morning, hopefully it did not fly off down the by-pass.:blushing:

Thanks again Jeff,

I was fearing the worst. I will post what I find in the morning.

Yes its the most scarey moment when you think your engine is done eh? least of all after a long time off the road.

If you can not easily see any pipe issues you will need to pressurise the system via a boost leak adapter and a compressor, if you get stuck we are not that far from you at the very least find the leak for you, that way you can get down and dirty to sort it out, one point, if it is a boost leak then its easier to drive with the air flow meter disconnected, your limited to a 2500 (ish) rev limit but that equated to 50mph + in top gear.

Well, stripped the 4 top hoses and re fitted them but to no avail, problem still there. mind you, from cold she seemed OK, until I hit some boost once warm and again wham! no power.:confused1:

put her on ramps and re fitted the bottom hoses, where I could get too, problem still there.:taz:

Looks like I will be taking you up on your offer of booking her in Jeff some time soon to have her pressure tested.

gutted or what? there goes the summer.:hang:

Good point MarkDerby,:whistling: Narrowed it down to a faulty connector at the MAF meter. Jeff also tweaked the TPS and trimmed the timing and throttle bodies, to name but a few. What a star!:cool3: I have to be careful under full throttle now, as I can light up the rears with now problems. Whooopeeeee!:lol:

yes my wife has the grip of death when it comes to hairy things .. she likes the zed but not going side ways around corners and round abouts ...

once she grabbed the gear stick as i was coming over a hump back bridge

tuck it out of gear went to throttle and just revv'd the tits out of the engine

I'd be insisting she wore a straight jacket when in the car.
