Right, dont know if many will fancy it, but ive got a forum trackday going on the BMW Forums, and zeds want to join in?

 

Its looking like Castle coombe on 4th October.

 

Were getting it discounted from a usual £149, to £129.

 

Nobody else on the track but us!

guys, it's fun push, as hard as you like, no speed limits, lots of space for mistakes and exploring your and your car's limits.

 

Timing is not allowed as it will encourage dangerours behaviour while overtaking slower cars

well thats just killed the fun then. no timing whilst driving around a track. pointless

Still seems stupid to me, one of the main attractions of driving around an actual race track to me would be to know my times, I've obviously been away too long.

mate, timing or not im on a track so im flat out. i will be passing slower cars anyway.

 

of course, but, more often than not track days don't allow overtaking on corners and some insist overtaking only on one side.

 

It's all done to avoid coming togethers, and someone who's concerned about their lap time will most likely do something that other cars are not expecting to get past.

oooo i cant wait. lol. i have allready made plans on getting my fat lwb a bit lighter for the day:). the air con pump and rad is coming out. the boot built is getting binned. all non essential interior is going. i.e rear seats and all trim:). my helmet that i have to wear will be made of bubble wrap and i will be naked. lmao.

 

Im sure you are going to need the rad mate, last time i checked it helps keep your engine cool.

 

Might be an idea to remove the aircon-rad instead :lol:

now get some decent brakes, lighten up the driveshaft and put some big power number down and hope my driving skills are BAD, suppose with all of these factors combined you may have a 1/2 change against my SWB MONSTER!:shifty:

All you do is over-fill it, then replace all your seals after the track day, simples!

You do realise, if you now throw a con rod, AND then spin it sideways into a wall, no ones going to be able to stop themselves laughing, even if you're dead or dieing, because of this thread!? :lol:

Good luck boys Castle Coombe is a great circuit and not too difficult to learn. The only problem that I can see is that if I recall there are about 8 right handers and only a couple of left handers. Not the best recipe for the 300zx and if you do push hard you will definitely suffer some oil surge issues. Also they are very strict on noise and last time I went there they actually measured every single motor before letting us out. Look forward to seeing the vids :)

Mines the gunmetal LWB, that goes absolutely ballistic around 3000 revs, you'll know it's me when the flames from my exhaust toast your marshmallow headlights!

How would I know? I didn't realise my GTR flamed until one day, pulling out of a service station in convoy, my mate behind me rang me up and said "Do that flaming thing again!" After that I realised it not only spat a little flame, it kicked out 4 foot flames that on overrun would keep going :D

a catch tank isnt going to stop you throwing a conrod, just ask silverbullet when he gets back from hiding.

 

a dry sump set up is what you will need from what i gathered from silver and his mishap. as when that oil starts sloshing to one side and is missing the pickup, your squirter ain't going to be doing a lot.
