Looking for a bit of info on any HKS turbos available for the 300zx.

The GT2530s are obviously fairly popular. But does anyone have any info on the GT2510s and 2510s?

I have scrolled tinternet and cant find much info at all. There seems to be a bit on Twinturbo.net but i just cant figure that site out.

I'm basically after the spec for the above turbos. I assume the Gt2510s and 2510 are fundamentally the same, but the GTs being BB?

How does these compare with stock?

Are there any more HKS turbos?

Does anybody run these, have any experience with these?

Sorry for the 20 questions.

Thanks

Is there a particular reason you want HKS turbos?

Just did a quick forum search for you, as this is quite a common topic, but I can't work out how to copy threads (only been here 18 months, lol).

Type in '2540' or '2510' in the forum search, if you put 'turbo' in you'll be there all day.

I put in 2540 and found a thread in the advanced tuning section from a few years back which seemed pretty informative.

Jaffa, Jaffa32, Paul C all have intimate knowledge of turbos (probably), I think Paul has some Power Enterprise (PE) turbos, but are very similar to HKS ones. Infact, many people on here will have pretty good knowledge of turbos, so if I didn't mention your name, please don't take offence!!

I assume you were interested in the 2510's as opposed to the 2540's because you want more spool, less lag??

I wouldn't limit yourself to just HKS tubs, keep an open mind fella - unless you've already got/been offered a pair??

I have the HKS 2530's - just not got round to fitting them yet LOL!!

Got it in one bud. :)

Thanks for the info. I did a search for 2510s but found very little. I dont have access to the advanced tuning forum - im not a subscribed member.....yet.

The turbos are definately not GT2530s, unfortunately. Which leads me to think, if they aint GT2530s, what are they? And are they any use?

I gave the serial numbers to HKS but they cant identify them. Great! Infact they said, 'they are probably GT2530s a these were the only turbos HKS ever manufactured for the 300zx' hmmmmmmm

I think the only way i can determine if they are GT2510s or 2510s is to open the buggers up to see if they have BBs. Which i wont be doing.

ahh, dont - they are on a fresh built engine with lots of uprated goodies that I was going to drop into mine.

My car was off the road for a couple of years & had a full body job done end of last year.

to be honest my car is running so well at the moment that I am just enjoying driving it  & dont want it off the road again at this stage. Not really sure what to do with it LOL!

Yeah!! You dont wanna take it off the road again. :)

I'm just approaching the end of a major rebuild but there are 2 big holes where the turbos should be. I'll make good use of them for you.....promise!

Holy Macaroni! Just had a wee scroll through past posts. Wow, you got the deal of the century! lol

I'll buy your clutch and fly aswell if you still have em :cool3:

Paul,

The 2530's are quite a big turbo aren't they? I remember you saying they were the equivelant of the Garrett GT675's?

Thought you had the PE one's must have been someone else - I get confused easily

Big C,

Do you know if the tubs you have will fit? I.E: the manifold and downpipe stud patterns are the same etc? The original 300zx tubbies were pretty small to start with (well, not massive, put it that way), so unless you've managed to find a pair of Suzuki Cappacino turbo's, I''m pretty sure they'd be a worthy replacement.

Couldn't you stick 'em on and see how it goes?

Yeah, they will defo fit.

The only thing that confuses me is that they have small exhaust elbows. Just small pieces that go from the 5-stud a 3 stud pattern. Seems a bit weird to me.

Nah, i dont wanna try it and see. My engine build has been about 4 years in the making. Ive been buying parts here and there until i was good to go. I originally planned on sticking with stock but (with a bit of convincing from my engine guy) now i want to upgrade. The last thing i want is to have the engine removed after its installed. So unless i'm completely happy with them, they aint going on.

GT2530s, i would be happy with :cool3:

Ok,

I have had a response from Garrett. They have confirmed that they are T25 turbos and that they are journal bearing turbos.

Would it be fair to assume that they are 2510s?

Garrett could not identify year of manufacture. Does anyone know when these turbos were discontinued?
