got a problem with the boot lid. Its loose. The boot pull doesnt work, well it does if you pull it and lift. Anyway, its annoying. Ive removed the trim piece covering the catch and there are 3 bolts holding it in i think. Anyway only one is height adjustable. So I loosen it, push the mechanism right down as low as it will go. tighten it back up to the point where it starts to strip the thread off the bolt. I close the boot lid and it goes loose again right away. So how to fix it?

Thanx

I had the same problem with my boot release i.e. needing someone to lift the tailgate while the release lever was pulled. Like you I loosened off the three bolts and lowered the mechanism, re-tightened and it was fine after that. When you say it goes loose again I assume you are talking about the release mechanism. The three bolts are made of very soft alloy and with any luck it’s only the threads on them that are knackered, try replacing with high tensile bolts and with any luck that will sort it.

yeah, thats exactly the problem, I lift the lid while lazy dad pulls the handle. Either that or you have to put ur kit on the floor, turn the key and lift at the same time then pick it up again.

And yeah, I moved the mech down, and retightened it, the mech went loose again, so i did the same thing again except i tightened the bolts to the point where it started to strip the thread. And it did the same. So Ill see about getting some really hard bolts to reaplace the crap ones. Is there a way of lifting the hook instead of lowering the catch?

I suppose i could take the bird off steve r cos obvously she is not needed by him any more. So steve does she do anything apart from lifting the boot tongue.gif

P.s. senna thanks bud smile.gif
