hi all, im garry (duk) and im a newbie!

 

iv always wanted a 300zx as my mates dad had 1 and i just loved it!

4 my sins tho im a massive ford nut :innocent: so up untill now iv just really been in2 my fords!

 

i hav a 412bhp saph cossie (2wd :devil2:) a 300bhp fiesta rs turbo and a pritty much std mk6 escort rs 2000 as my daily driver!

 

i decided 2 sell the rs2000 as im only doin a few miles aweek 2 work and fancy'd another toy! anyway after stickin it up 4sale i got offerd a h reg auto 300zx tt swb, now i know quite abit about cars and hav build a good few in my time but never had anything 2 do with 300zx's and 2 b honest i dont no y as there such nice lookin car!

 

so what im askin is, is there anything i should b lookin out 4? ie rust or things that cost a bomb 2 replace?

All the guys on here are extremely helpful and I am sure will answer all of your questions and wind you up along the way lol

These cars are generally very reliable but can consume large amounts of cash to keep them in good shape due to their age.

 

Main points are

 

Weak cooling system due to age, water pump hoses and heater matrix can fail.

Suspension is fairly complex and there are a lot of bushes than can fail and cause poor ride.

Rust can be a problem on the rear sills and arches also check battery tray and under front wings.

Brake lines at the rear can corrode along with the petrol tank.

Auto gear boxes aren't the best if not well cared for.

There are lots of electrical senors, lambda, crank angle sensor, throttle position sensor, knock sensor, water temp sensors that can fail, along with brittle wiring due to heat cycles under the bottom as temps to get hot under the bonnet.

Power steering system is prone to leaks also.

 

These are the basics that I would check to see if they have been replaced with in the last few years if not you can quite easily spend £2k upwards just getting it in good shape.

beermonster on the money there duk2 im sure most members on here have spent afew grand just keeping them on the road just like me ,super examples ie top models on this club spent so much money i can only dream of having a 300 like theirs mine stays in the garage most of the time tell a lie all the time collecting dust lol,but i have to admit this car is so special to me even with two young girls and money so tight i cant let it go its the greatest car ever and a tt manual import will make your other beasts look like their going backwards mate,if you got the money you wont regret it,just my opinon mind

iv actually noticed its in a couple pic on here at knockhill so the guy mite b on here that has it or maybe a pre owner! iv got pics so il post them later and c if any1 knows it! its orange with a hi level rear spoiler!
