Hey,

I have lots of play on the lower arm ball join bush, the rubber is finished and there is a lot of play in it, easy MOT failure.

Anyway, please can someone tell me if can I replace the bush alone, or will it have to be the whole ball joint, or worse still - the whole lower arm (wishbone)?

Cheers!

I'm pretty sure that you can get the front ball joint as a seperate item. Just need to get the old one pressed out and new one put in.

Have a word with Mr F at MJP, he'll be able to sort you out mate.

Bottom ball joint is available, have changed many of them, once the ball is disconnected its a case of releasing a snap ring and out ot comes, refit the new one and the new snap ring, works out a hell of a lot cheaper than changing the lower arm as they are something silly like £200 but the bushes are around £30 to £35

So, could I replace the bush without removing the ball joint, or do I need to remove it to fit a new bush?

Same thing, bush / ball joint, forgot to say before there is a cone shaped adapter that has to be transfered from the old ball joint.

I think I've seen a replacement cone for sale during my research, but shouldn't need that. I get it, the ball joint and bush are one part. Great, that's I'll contact a trader and get one ordered! Cheers! :)

Hey, you may remember this thread. Anyway, I ordered the ball joint and I was attempting to do it today, but I cant get the old one out. I have the circlip off and the nut at the top, but I can't push the balljoint out of the arm. Any suggestions?

I've considered taking the lower arm off for easy access (unsure how difficult this is, should only be one bolt).

Ok, I took off the lower arm and removed it by hitting it with large hammer.

Thing is the saddle looks like its part of the old ball joint, it doesnt look like it comes off, but if it does, does it screw off?

Yes it does come off but it`s been on there a long time!! never had one be completely subborn but with air tools and ramps etc. jobs are so much easier for us.

Try warming it will a blow lamp and get you big hammer on it!

You say hit it, which makes me think it doesn't screw, its just placed on over the bolt section?

Not threaded just a tight taper fit.
