Right guys and girls, I am seriously considering selling my Slicktop. For no other reason than I fancy something else. Something with a retractable roof

So I would appreciate some advice with regards to how best go about this.

Firstly, is this in your opinion the best/first place to advertise? My feeling is that most people have Zeds' and are here for advice/help/parts/banter, not looking to buy.

Secondly, if it was your car would you spend money making sure everything was 'perfect' ? In that I mean refurbing a wheel if it has a 1" kerb rub etc.

Thirdly, and this is my Zed specific, would you offer any potential buyers a couple of bodywork options? Bumper/tailgate are not to my exacting standards (long story!!) Despoiler, lose parking mast.

My Slicky has wanted for nothing during my ownership, apart from a manwell obviously!! It handles fantastically, runs as sweet as a nut and looks gorgeous. I have aquired £1200 worth of parts to fit, should i sell these with the car or seperately?

This is what i've done in the last 15 months

DW adjustable tension rods

Cyberspeed front camber arms

DW total hicas eliminator

Cyberspeed rear camber arms

DW polybushed rear

INTERIOR/ICE:

Speakers, front Hertz ESK165 comp, rear JL 650CXI coax

Amp, Vibe slick A4 under custom cover

Subs, JBL GTO804 in custom enclosures

iPhone holder (custom) in place of ashtray

Replaced drivers seat.

MAINTENENCE:

Conzult

Oil and filter change

New brake pads front and rear

Caliper overhaul

Brand new series2 PTU

Blitz SUS induction kit

Red Stuff front pads (1/7/11)

All work has been carried out by Silverbullet. Reciepts for all parts/work carried out.

Any advice at all is welcome.

Regards, Daffy.

Stop being a dick and get the conversion done FFS!

Thank you.

Can you get to the point please Andy. That isn't quite succinct enough for me :turned:

Did you ring while I was away?

Yes I did. I wanted to make sure you weren't being a DICK!

Now get that bloody conversion done!

:stupid:

I've never regretted selling a car,

Even when I sold my old Skyline, I knew it was to get something quicker and better (well that was the plan, anyway). I love my Zed and I've told myself I'm going to keep it another 3 years or so. Once I've spent a ridiculous amount of money on it, I'll stick it up for sale and make a massive loss, then buy something else and do the whole thing again! It makes very little sense financially, but there are a lot of cars out there.

For me, the Zed is just a bit too wide to be a car you can really hustle - I can have just as much fun driving my missus' Clio at 10 tenths, than I can driving my Zed at 8 tenths (which is pretty much how it gets driven). The Zed is a great car, undoubtedly - but I'm beginning to think something lightweight and small (i'm thinking along the lines of an elise or caterham) makes much more sense when petrol costs 1.30 - 1.40 a litre.

Its only my opinion, but if you fancy a change - indulge it. Life's too short to stick with the same choices. You wouldn't go to the same restaurant and have the same meal, every time you went out would you? Try something different.

The best solution of course, would be to keep the Zed AND get something else, but its difficult to justify having 2 toys. But if you want a re-trim, manual conversion and engine rebuild, you're already talking about 6-8 thousands quids worth. That buys a whole heap of metal these days.

Not wanting to put a cat amoungst it, but i would sell you a manual conversion...:hang:

I have all the parts for a manual conversion buddy. Low mileage 'box, brand new clutch/fly', rad etc.

Thanks anyway :cool2:

Yeah dude, get it done, because to be perfectly honest, it's a COMPLETELY different car as a manual. I drove Roses before and after, WOW what a difference. If you have the bits, and you fancy something different, do that!

Mate, If you have them sitting there.... then crack on.

I am certainly no expert, but would happily assist someone more skilled in doing your conversion. Having gone down this route as a helper before, it really isn't too hard, as long as you have the right tools and a bit of patience.

Please don't sell her Daff... this is one of the cleanest examples of a zed i have ever seen.

I am sure if you send out an SOS to the membership and offer to keep people fed and watered with some beer tokens chucked in you would be able to get the conversion done sooner rather than later.
