Oil Sender unit ??? not there !!!

Hi all,

I'm tending to think I've made an obvious error, but after reading alot of posts about dodgy opil pressure readings I purchased a new oil sender unit.

Got instructions from the technical section (twinturbo.net), and went to install it while doing an oil change at the weekend.

Problem -- I couldn't see the bl.... thing anywhere !

The best I could see was a 3/4 pipe next to where oil filter joined into, which had a bolt screwed into the end, (just above the steering column links).

Could this be where it would go, and someones done a conversion ? (needless to say I couldn;t see the wires for connection either.

Anyon ehelp with this mystery, or tell what amateur mistake I've made.

Thanks

Ash

LOL ! On some cars the oil pressure sender is on the LH side, on some the right. Not sure what the rule is but at the moment I'm not even sure there is one !

The manual shows it on the driver side, but Timmy Turbo posted some pics over the weekend which show it on the passenger side.

Oil sender unit is on the near side in the middle of the block its easy to get at if you got a ramp at your disposal.as it lhe only thing with a lead going to it on that side in the area. its on the opposite side from the oil filter, the reason it says driver side on the online manual is because the online manual comes from an american original printed book and has beemn scanned in page by page and all their cars are left hookers! ( found this out when doing pcv valves)the reason for the poor readings is due to the fact that the sender uses a vairable earth system as the reves increece the resistasnce decreeces and the gauge needel goes up with the voltage. Vola explanation good enough

Allan
