Diff Oil Change

anyone done this, and is it worth doing, done a search but not much came up about folks doing it, and it being worthwhile...

may sound weird but with a lack of diff/ gearbox oil will the mechanism of the diff or gearbox cause draggin effect... ie hold up acceleration like bad brakes would?

Yes. Lack of oil will generate extra friction and heat, creating additional drag and cause irrversible wear and damage to gear surfaces and bearings.
