It's driving me nuts!!!!!! the sound the car makes when u leave your lights on , that bong....bong.....sound Is on constantly when driving , even when the lights r off. Is it a signal for something or should i invest in a deerstalker hat with sound deadening ear flaps!!!!! please help

The thing that makes the noise is behind the dash. Easy to get to. Disconnect it if you want.

Is it a Jap? Cos I think they do it when its in reverse. It could have a stuck switch thinking its in reverse all the time.

On imports the "lights on" buzzer sounds like a loud buzzing noise, not the bong-bong noise you discribed

I just went off looking for this before I noticed Trey has already posted the link.

 

On my 1990 import, the bong-bong-bong noise for exceeding 105kph (65mph) is the same as the "excuse prease, headrights on" you get when turning the ignition off.

 

If you don't want to dismantle the dash, turn the stereo up.... (or drive slower yeh right)

 

If the bong bong bong happens when driving below 65mph, this sounds like a fault to me. Experts out there?

now that the bong bong bong has been debonged, or is being debonged i won't bang on about the bongs bonging.
