how have you lost your no claims?

Get insured by someone else- admiral group are usually the best; elephant, bell, and admiral.

Was with performance direct after 12mths of driving on classic any no claims doesn't count you loose it that's ok if you have another classic but they don't count 1993as classic have tried all comparisons and performance direct and direct choice who I have a van policy with they quoted £1900

first off, with no claims bonus, its 2 years, never heard it being 1 year and you lose it, its always been 2 years as long as you can provide proof that your entitled too it.

Second, ring lynbrook, ive recently changed my car details over from my last zed to the blue one and it only went up by £36 due to extra modifications being listed. i now pay £310 for the year fully comp on a UK spec TT.

Anyway try

Lynbrook - classic car, limited mileage, agreed value insurance, no need for NCB, age restrictions do apply as do the need for the car to be garaged.

carol nash - classic bike insurance, but also do classic car, you can build NCB with them as well, limited mileage, you do need a second car though to get it insured using the classic policy. age restriction may apply (though cant be too sure on that)

But you have to remember as well, recently there has been an increase in insurance premiums due to the current climate (well thats what they like to throw about as an excuse to milk more cash from people anyway)

As Voddy says, try Lynbrooks mate! I've been insured with them for at least 4 years now on a classic policy and my current ZX (owned for 2 years) is a UK spec 1994 L-reg. They let me have that as a classic.....

.....I'm 41, clean licence, live in a low crime area and the ZX is garaged. I have a daily driver though; and my ZX is limited to 5k miles p/a but last November it cost me something like £230 to renew.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

You definatly need to shop around John. I have no NCB, I dont have a clean license, Im younger and im only paying £500 a year on my 93 Import Slicktop TT

WTF? How? I'm 28, with a clean license, but 0 no claims and it costs me over £600 a year!

Im younger than John, but a few years older than you (31). Sounds about right to me.

Oh don't get me wrong, after having insurance at stupid prices like £4,500 for the GTR, £2900 for the Supra, £1300 for the Toyota Estima etc. at £600 I was definitely stoked, just would like it at £500 :D

christ, dont get me wrong an r34 is probably the only thing i'd trade my zed for but £4500, it's upset me that you paid that yet alone the idea of paying it myself. thats commitment I'll give you that!

is it wrong that i know a lad paying the same for a 1.0 corsa on a clean licence though :/

Probably the reason you lose your no claims is that sometimes when you insure a car as a classic you don't actually physically build any no claims, so you need to watch out for that. I was shocked to find this out too when i was driving my Yanks on classic. The company i'm with now are then same but they will mirror the no claims from the daily driver, and my Zed is the daily driver.

Will try lynbrooks I'm 40 but have a sp30 4 hrs ago56 ban 0 points and my correction it was 2 hrs 1 nth that I took my classic policy out hope I get it cheaper because I can't justify paying that sort of money on a car I drive a few times of the year.

Performance Direct quoted me with mods declared over a grand and i,m 45 FFS !! and the zed was gonna be a second car with only 1500 miles limit :taz:

Tried a few others but found Graham Sykes Insurance , they do classic and modded classics as well , £300 with mods :thumbup:

I found mce insurance to be a winner for me, i was also with performance until they tried to double the premium, found the same classic policy with mce for less than the previous year, think it came in around 220.

Just to clear things up on the ncb as I work in insurance!

A lot of companies now won't take ncb in to accoutrements if it hasn't been used for over 12 months. Some will still take it up to 2 years and if you go back to the company you were with prior to the classic isurancr they may be more inclined to do it for you.

How long have you been on the classic insurance policy mate?
