Anyone use Halfords for MOT

Ive got this new Halfords MOT station opened up a few minutes from me, its all kitted out nice compared to my usual which does look a dive.

Anyway Halfords offer half price MOT which the chap their said was an ongoing deal.

So I took my dads Bentley in as he does not drive it much (200 miles since last MOT) and they failed it on play in the front nearside wheel and having a chat with their mechanic he condemned it saying the car was extremely dangerous.

At that point I was expecting my dad to have a heart attack.

Halfords of course said they would not work on the car and we then booked it in at a Bentley dealer.

Three days at Bentley dealer, car is delivered back this morning at 8am. Cost £59. Report just needed minor adjustment.

What you think? Halfords a bit crap or where we just silly booking with them in the first place. I dont consider an MOT anything major which is why I was lured by the half price deal.

Ive got 2 more cars needing MOT should I pay full whack at my normal garage or risk it at Halfords again.

There are many established MOT stations that charge about £35, I would let Halfords touch my windscreen wipers, let alone perform an MOT test.

You say you dont consider the MOT a major thing, i think for most people its the only time they get to see whats wrong with their cars lol

ive served my time in halfords / ripspeed a few years back, and was given NO training whatso ever! i knew my way around a car luckily, but you should have seen some of the ones that worked with me!!!!!!!!!!! i wouldent trust them for a second!

I'm with Graham on that one.....

.....sure, Halfords are fine for the odd purchase but I have seen how some of their chimps attempt to change people's lighbulbs under their "fitting service" and I would not even let them pull the bonnet catch on any car I own!!

Take it to a proper garage mate!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

my mum took her car up to halfords and came out with a bill just over £500 for loads of random things like tyres which had only just been replaced and a so called blocked fuel pipe even though thats not part of an mot plus the car had been running fine so i took it to my mates garage and he said they actually didnt do any work on the car at all that he could see of so i am now going through a massive battle with halfords to get the money back for my mum

Halford if full of dicks fresh out of collage that think they know everything but know feck all.

I had an argument with a guy in there over wiperblades and he wouldnt sell them to me because they were not classed for my car. I said these flat blades all fit each other and he said that not what the book says :xxx:

haha, talking about halfords...

i over heard a woman saying her husband wanted his tyres shiney, so the halfrauds bot went and fetched some gloss black paint!

....we handed her some autoglym foaming tyre dressing.
