Hi Folks,

So for the last year, I have been convinced that I was going for the much loved white for the colour change on a SWB slicktop, from gunmetal grey, with a black roof and engine bay.

 

I had set my sights on Ford Frozen White. I have already done the engine bay and roof Toyota Satin Metallic, and I reckon it looks ok.

 

The intent was to keep the car standard (ish) and put a dark tint on the rear and rear quarter glass to match the roof, and maybe subtle carbon wrap on the roof rails, and / or the window guides on the doors (between the front and rear side windows).

 

BUT....

 

I reckon white is getting too common around these parts. Everybody is at it over here, especial the white / black combo, and particularly on run of the mill Beemers and Golfs. I fear it will make the Z look to ordinary / not special enough to stand out.

 

Yes, it looks great, yes, it suits the Z. But I have fallen in love with another colour and I need opinions please!

 

I am deffo not sure about doing white now, fancy the other colour, but I am open to suggestions for anything else.

 

I dunno how to add a poll - If anyone wants to oblige, I would be grateful.

I did mine ice white (Audi Ibis White) last year and it turned out to be a brilliant decision. The car looks fresh, modern and oh so cool. And when the sun is out, it simply shimmers.

 

As for your concerns about it not standing out...how many Z32's do you see in a typical month...and how many are ice white?

bayside blue, cant really go wrong with it to be honest. and looks awesome in the sun, subaru call it, STI2008 blue for some strange reason (think its to do with copyright) but see my rides for pictures

Was there a thread about it? I saw one, might not have been yours, and that confirmed to me at the time that it was what I wanted to do, I thought it looked ace. There was another two tone, I think it belonged to StellaZ, also looked good.

 

Fair point about the numbers, there is only 2 more in my area, one is white and the other is black.

 

There are dozens of two tone black / white motors around here, it is a German fetish to take a banger and throw on a crappy paint job on very boring cars to make them "exciting".

 

None are Zeds, but there are enough to make the colour scheme very non-original now.. It's not that I don't like the colours, it's just everywhere at the moment. Same as the Muppets with the up & over racing stripes.

That colour definitely seems to have a huge fan base on here, and I do like it.

I meant that everybody seems to like it. It is nice, not if it would fit with the black roof though.

 

I have already done that and the engine bay, and quite like it, so determined to keep it.

 

I'm off to the suppliers tomorrow for other stuff, so might ask him to mix me up a wee bit to test.

If your on about the two tone look, (black bonnet, black A pillers, black roof bars and targa bars, and black boot lid) i cant see why it woudnt go.

 

I put a black spoiler on my blue and looked effing awesome. add a black bonnet and black roof bar, i could honestly see it going well together.

Nah, just the roof, not a fan of doing the bonnet different from the wings.

 

That's cool on an aggressive looking, body-kitted motor with big power. Apart from the paint, I plan to keep this one standard.

 

No targas, it's a SWB / slicktop, and Im going nekkid on the back - no spoiler.

 

I think I'm gonna pick up 1/2 liter of that blue, and the other colurs above, and see how they look on the motor.

if your leaving the roof black, then yes it would work. black roofs are like black spoilers, go with just about any colour tbh :D

TVR really do some very nice paints for their motors.
