In theory would a SWB TT be slightly quicker 0-62 in a straight line, than an identically spec'd LWB TT and would the SWB have a shorter braking distance?

**does anybody have any real world experience of a similar comparison (spec for spec)

cheers

In theory, being lighter it would be slightly quicker to both accelerate and stop. In real terms I guess no two cars are identical enough to be able to compare accurately.

You'd have to take into account driver weight and ability too though. One driver could weigh a stone or more less than the other, one could be very quick on reactions while the other isn't, etc.

On paper yes. in reality no. condition is a major factor now. old engine and old brakes etc

Everyone has summed it up well. In theory yes, but condition and driver would/could make more of a difference.

A little bit of Maths will tell you that comparing with a 100kg difference (LWB vs Slicktop) there is a potential 0.3 difference in 0-60 times, and 0.5 secs in 0-100 times. It would be impossible to prove this, with no 2 cars in the same condition.

The only other bit of info out there is that Car & driver Magazine recorded a 0-60 on 5.0 seconds on a stock 300zx SWB TT Manual, whereas most magazine tests of the LWB TT were 5.6/5.7 secs.

Now If you were to take my lightened slicktop, against a typical lard arse wobbly lwb.....well thats another story

pointless topic to be fair, who cares, 0-60 comes so dam quick its barely worth worrying about. now 50-120 is more like it.

While there are staightline differences in theory, the cornering differences are whats more noticable.

.......wait...you have a SWB.....us shorties are supposed to be sticking together and ganging up on the estate owners:devil:

shotie vs LWB day. track of their choice, they bring their family's, we bring our gf's!

how long till its on the road mate, would love to meet you at a track event to see how well it goes now its been to weigh****chers.

Its all dependent on finances :( Giving up work and going back into fulltime education may be the right choice for my future (hopefully), but its severly gimped the Z's progress.

It drives, i could go and get it Mot'd but it needs to go the bodyshop before I'll really drive it.

he thinks its faster ;-)

With me driving and a solid 1995 chassis and powertrain I can't see it being slower than a lwb :)

How is it a pointless topic?

As we are constantly reminded in the real world, you can drive a 200+mph hyper car on the road but the law limits you to 70 mph, therefore 0-62 mph statistics of our cars is actually quite relevent and useful to know as that is a realistic benchmark for real world driving of a zed.

Granted 50-120 mph stats would be useful info also, especially for overtakes etc but still, I disagree that the topic of 0-62 mph is pointless.

Crack on with the 50-120 sprints (assuming its not an import that's restricted in which case you won't ever get to your 120 mph target anyway).

IMHO all info with regards to the zed is good knowledge to have tucked away in the back of your mind........

now does anybody know the weight difference in ounces between a SWB fuel cover and a LWB fuel cover????:whistling:

0 oz. They are the same

(presuming were talking fuel filler door)

^^^^ see I've learnt something new again, as I had a guy in the states tell me previously that the carbon fuel filler door that he was selling would only fit a SWB.

I ended up waiting 3 weeks for him to get a LWB version in stock....

My old SWB with similar mods to my current LWB was definitely quicker.

Both had similar mileages and both in great condition.
