Could anybody please direct me on getting these bloody things off??

I have just tried spraying WD40 and whacking a spanner with a hammer and nothing works, just makes a massive metal sound! lol

Thanks...

spanner and a long tube, enough to get on the end of the spanner and get a bit more leverage. or get your self a breaker bar, one of the best tools you can own with a zed.

I had that with mine in the end i took it upto the garage gave em £30 they changed it for me!, its not worth the hassle doin it yourself, the other time i ended up getting a scafolding pole one the end of my ratched it didnt turn much but gave it alot more torque! and broken the nuts

just done mine mate unfortunatley you need plenty of heat as well as the wd or failing that angle grind the nuts off and replace with new ones

only time ive needed heat to get an exhaust off, was the down pipes and that was just to get them started, other wise as mikey said, spanner on, foot on spanner, hold on for dear life and push with your feet, make sure your going the correct way lol (lefty loosy, righty tighty)

But with a breaker bar they tend to undo.

If its a nut and bolt, you want one spanner on the bolt end and wedge it against a block of wood and the body work, and then use another spanner on the bolt end with your foot.

I bought a cheap 2 foot long torque wrench and use it as a breaker bar, there hasn't been a nut or bolt it hasn't got undone (or bust).

DON'T use a good torque wrench though as you will bugger it for torqueing up bolts.

yeah but dont get your mate to sit under there with you holding 1 side of it and you pushing the spanner with your foot. you will just slip and kick him in the head. i know this as i did the same with ian:rofl:

yeah but we got the nut off lol

yeah but we got our nuts off lol

Ian, I never knew!

yeah 2 men under a car. tight space. both playing with our nuts. it could only go one way:)

Unfortunately, it ended up with a sticky mess on the floor and no gearbox or engine in the car lol

Eeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww!

Get a bit of heat on them.

Get a tow rope, attach one end to your back boxes and the other to a tree. Then proceed to floor it AWAY FROM THE TREE until the exhaust it successfully removed

:p :p :p

The best thing i reckon you can have for a zed, is a compressor and impact wrench, will cost you less than a ton for the lot, and it will remove anything... P.s. if you manage to remove them without snapping them, can I have those brackets please? :)

heat them cherry red with a MAP gas bottle then cordless impact and straight off while smoking a lambert&butler....sorted:winkiss:

How are you getting on? I am going to attempt the same thing this weekend, so I am keen to know!

Lol, I need heat, borrowed a mates massive extension bar and got no room to move.

Looks like it will have to go on a set of ramps!

10/10 for effort mate im no mechanic im a spark , and this is my first project and i know how much grief my rusty bolts were but i snapped them with the power lol so need for heat but it would ve been alot easier

impact wrench, cordless/pneumatic, definitely, it 'knocks' the nut/bolt loose rather than brute force stressing it till it snaps...

dats za baby matey...MAP burns hotter than the butane, next best thing to the oxy bottles

Sure is mate, I light me fags with it

HORRAAAAAHH!!

I got them all off, the 4 rear and 2 front rubber's bolts (the easy bit) and the 4 PITA exhaust flange bolts all without heat!!

I think the wd40 soaked in overnight plus I managed to borrow a breaker bar as you guys recommended, was only able to do one with the breaker bar as I only had a little room under the car grrrrr... anyway, managed to put my foot on the wheel the other side and pulled with both arms and it let go... the other side I managed to get a 17mm spanner on it and get a 4lb club hammer and it come off lol... well happy...

Just need a 2.5" down pipe from somewhere as the standard 2" flange is not lining up with the holes on the 2.5" backs ='0(

Do I need the downpipe all the way from the turbos back or just from before the cat???

I'm lost now lol

ALL THAT WORK! =0)
