following on from my recent post im still only getting 0.5 bar boost. I got a leak tester off anthonyd () and i managed to find 1 loose jubile clip which i have now sorted. however im still only getting 0.5 bar??????????

So in short i have no boost leaks, no error codes (with and without turning ignition off), greddy boost gauge and still only have 0.5 bar?

could it be weak actuators? or could the turbos been turned down by previous owner???

thanks for your help

The car is so clever, it can sense driver ability and knows you arnt fit with anymore than 0.5bar... lol

Have you reset the ecu since its had the boost leak fixed?

I'm never entirely sure how all this works, but if the boost solenoids were disconnected/plugged etc (as if the car had had an ebc installed at some point) would that make it run at waste gate pressure which i think is 0.5bar?

I could be talking total rubbish but maybe not...

cross check the accuracy of the boost gauge....its only about 1.5 psi out (down) from normal boost pressure

your probably not wrong!! i need new tyres on the rear anyway! and actually no i have not reset the ecu i will do this this morning and see how i get on!

failing this if i was to put boost jets in and i still only get 0.5 bar boost would this tell me its def in safty mode?

i thought you said it had no error codes...anyway the safe mode and reduced boost is cleared after every fresh start untill it happens again. have you checked dett sensor..plug...loom???

sounds like dett sensor to me aswell had the same prob last year.

yeah i did have code 34 a while ago and when i checked the wirring it had been by passed and both plugs had been cut off so i re wired it and code 34 cleared and has not come on since and didnt show when i had it on a conzult a couple of months ago! im planning on changing the plenum and doing a water by pass soon and i was going to put a new det sensor and new plug in at the time as the egr has been removed and i belive i can get to it.

i have tried some boost jets and i get a little over 0.5 just about 0.6 bar now but it slowly drops back to 0.5 under hard accerlation????? does this mean anything to anyone!

iff it slowly drops then sounds like a leak...throw a 1 meg resistor across the dett sensor plug (ecu end) and try that...kids the ecu into thinking the dett sensor is inline and see iff the boost returns or even better at the ecu end directly on to the pins to cancel out the chance of broken wires from engine bay down..

thanks ill have to give it a go have you got any links to it?

if you are not getting code 34 then the resistor should make no difference - code 34 is stored when the det sensor circuit is out of spec - installing the resistor simply fools the ECU into thinking the correct resistance is present!

does the boost change at all from hot to cold engine temps?

could be a engine temp sensor problem thinking the engine is cold all the time - have you checked the connector to the temp sensor?

  • Author

i have changed the temp sensor and plug when i bought the car in may and dont really know if the boost changes when its cold as i never use boost till its warm.

and is there any way of checking the waste gate valves? im wondering if i have weak actuators? if so is there anyway i could test it?
