Just wanted to have a bit of a vent after a recent encounter with some arrogant p**ck on ebay who thought he was being clever

In a nut shell, I've been looking for an ex military RIB (boat) to use as part of a new business venture and I found one for sale on ebay up for £10,000.

Now £10,000 is quite steep for what is effectively a 20+ year old boat that looks slightly worse for wear, though not a ludicrously high price as there's always scope for barter

anyway, I asked a few questions and was waiting on some more detailed pics, in the meantime the listing ended and unfortunately had recieved no pics

I carried on searching and recently noticed that the RIB had been relisted but the price has now been increased to £12,000, which of course the seller is entitled to do, but I was curious as to what work had been carried out since it was last listed just two weeks ago to justify the extra £2,000 addition to the price tag (I was thinking that maybe it had recieved an engine overhaul or minor repair etc)

I politely enquired and the come back was basically as follows:

"YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT LAST WEEK , AS THIS IS THE NEW PRICE , AND IN MY OPION STILL UNDERVALUED , REGARDS"

To be fair, that is one hell of a way to go about pissing off a genuine cash buyer and losing a sale

Why are some people such K**b heads these days?

Well he's lost out on a sale, silly really because from what you say not alot of people would pay that for it in the first place!

Highly unusual to INCREASE a price tag rather than decrease it when the item doesn't sell, lol. Maybe he's trying to make it look and sound more exclusive!

Sounds like a good salesman......NOT, lets hope the pr**k ends up begging and someone says "YOU SHOULD HAVE SOLD IT LAST WEEK , AS THIS IS A CRAP PRICE , AND IN MY OPION GROSSLY OVERVALUED....

That seller will be enjoying some lovely humble pie very soon

In life you shouldn't really burn any bridges, you never know when you might need them

Some wise words there for you all

being a power boater myself ive come to hate the up there own arse attitude from the boating comunity and there related forums...in almost 4 years ive not liked any of em. piss on him mate and move on to the next seller:sneaky2:

ahhh the location being the channel coast area explains everything....they think anyone north of london dont know fvk all about boating:mad2:

hmm a few negatives on his feedback. sounds like as soon as someone showed interest he thought you'd take the bait and pay the £12k!

Yeah I've come across plenty of those 'up their own arse' types down at Sand Banks, more money than sense, a lot of them

Jetty's from their backgarden, which obviously means (in their eyes at least) that they have right of way with regards to anything wet at the end of their garden....

Quite laughable when 4 grey RIBs or MIBs go tearing past....and we even get paid for it, much to their annoyance

how dare we use their water!!

ive got a rib, only a baby 12' er with a 30hp outboard but its amazing fun. it will get up onto the plane with 3 on board and does around 30 knots.

use it down in south wales usually

Id send him a reply asking why he thinks its worth the extra 2k? and for that money he could may be replace his keyboard with the stuck CAPSLOCK KEY, so he stops shouting at people. also explain how his rudeness has just lost him a sale.

I think you should give us the link, we can all watch it, he will get really excited at the prospect of high interest, and there you have it, you have got your own back :-D

I always answer questions politely even if the person I am dealing with pisses me off! Its hard not to have a rant back! At the end of the day, dont even buy it off him if he reduces it drastically! lol

Yeah I know what you're saying mate, I've already politely asked what extra work has been done for him to have increased the price by £2,000 and that was the come back. Exactly as you say 'CAPS LOCK ON!!!' very aggresive...

The guy needs to have a word with himself, he'll need to learn eventually for the sake of his business

I would have gone to around £8,000 for a cash purchase; which is still probably a little over the odds to be fair

You'll probably find that the guy has owned that particular RIB from new and has been trying to sell it since 1987.....his rudeness has obviously put a lot of people off over the years

I'm watching for the giggle factor. Maybe fire a few (dumb) questions his way.

And the tit has can't spell - "MILITARY DEISEL RIB"

I thought about asking if it had tax and MOT and could be driven back to the northwest... lol

Or possibly asking how he has adapted the inboard diesel to drive the tri axle trailer and what steering mechanism had he used?

Could it be driven on an automatic only license?

hehehe

Now that would make me laugh.....I wonder how long it would take for him to clock the wind up

Maybe ask if you can meet up down at the slip way and ask him to help you load the trailor into the boat...

Do people type in caps and spell badly on purpose, the amount of listings I see like this with massive caps in random colours is baffling. Is our education system so piss poor these days?

I think it's because one quarter of the worlds population is retarded

I know what you mean, its the listings like that, that i tend to avoid, also the stupid ones that start with L@@K?

Then theres that stupid saying "first to see will buy" like you dont have a choice in the matter? or when they type in excessive LARGE FONT IN BOLD AND CAPS, like you cant see the text on the screen.

Aaarrggghhh!
