Steam fron exhausts

Hello,

Can anybody out there shed some light on this for me?

I have a uk 92 300zx tt lwb,

And have noticed recently alot of steam coming from both exhausts, ( starts about a minute after start up )

If left idling it will persist for a very long time,

If however i take it for a run there is no sign of the steam on my return,

I was thinking it must be condensation but if the car is restarted a couple of hours after a good run the steam returns, Surely it all should have been dispersed?

I tried removing a back box to see if there was any differance, And there wasn't,

Also I'm not losing any coolant,

Thanks in advance james

does the steam/smoke evaporate after its left the exhaust or does it float upto the sky and still visable meters away?

sounds like condensation tho

Hi,

Its defo steam,

it's white, doesn't smell and disperses quickly, Also when revved sometimes a small amount of water is sprayed from the exhausts,

Thanks James

Thanks Sandy,

Its just that i was thinking of selling the zed and it could look suspicious to a potential buyer,

All they would have is my word that its losing no water,

James

It could be a build up of condensation in the exhaust, when you took the back boxes off, did you tip them up to see if any water came out?

i had a problem with my black zed that used to shoot 4 foot of water out of the tail pipes, when i eventually changed the back boxes there was 1 and a half litres of water in them lol

has your car sat for a long period of time? as it could still be holding water in the cats if you have them on the car still

and please dont turn this thread into a for sale one, as registered users are not permitted to sell on the forums matey, welcome to the club though.

hi,

no intention of turning into a for sale thread, I only brought that up as it wouldn't bother me as I know I'm not losing water,

I was expecting for some water to come out the back box when I took it off, but sadly none did,

as you said I've not checked the cats yet so I'll try t
