Can anyone please tell me what the oil pressure guage should be reading??

 

Mine hovers just below centre when cold and then drops to almost nothing as it warms up. It occasionally goes back up again at cruising speed - seems almost random...is this normal? - it's a TT Auto Jap import 1990....

The electric senders go bad with time and ready erratically. It should read around half way when hot at 3000rpm and just below lowest mark when hot 700rpm idle. Mines a UK and should say 50-60psi at 3000rpm. It does sometimes! But mostly ranges between 20 and 40 hot and between 70 - 90 cold. I use Castrol 0-40 full synthetic.

First replace the oil-pressure sender...it's very common on Z32's for the sender to ge bad.

The needle should be in the middle during cruising and with the engine warmed up.

 

If it still reads low with a new sender you might have a very serious problem.

i have just got a new oil pressure switch, where does this go as i can not find it, cheers.

Cheapest place to get is from courtesy nissan in usa. Have a look under the engine, passengers side in middle. fixes on to oil pipe(obviously).

I seem to recollect that a sender is in the range £60-70. Fitting is not too difficult, if you have long arms.
