They do look ok matey, hids were very expensive some years ago, but with the influx from Japan, China, etc the price has fallen. The quality will also suffer somewhat, but in the early editions of hids, problems were very common.

So, i would say yes, go for it buddy.....

Alz.

just a Tip the new MOT Regs thats out later this year will Fail HID that have been Retro fitted in to normal Light reflectors

Factory fitted HID with Projectors are fine

i will try and find the MOT info

2011 VOSA changes to MOT

Still 13 months away until these new regulations come into force, but some interesting changes. From MOT from December 2011, the below changes will come into force, which will be very bad news for some.

HID lights – Specifically those aftermarket kits that give the very bright headlight beams. Any cars found with these kits will be an automatic MOT failure. Testers are able to easily spot the difference between HID kits, and manufacturer fitted Xenon’s. Easy to spot as Xenon cars have suspension level sensors, in car beam adjuster, and usually headlight washers.

Chipped ECU’s - Unsure of just how/if this one will realistically be enforced, but any cars with chipped ECU’s will in theory be an MOT failure. I can only assume VOSA have found an easy way of checking ECU software through the cars OBD port (diagnostic plug).

Wiring harness – The general condition of he wiring harness will be checked to make sure there is no rubbing or chaffing, and that the harnesses are in generally good condition. If unsecure, or damaged again MOT failure.

Airbag warning lights - If any warning lights are illuminated, it will again be an MOT failure.

sounds to me like yet another effort to get older cars of the road:censored:

you can always just put normal bulbs back in for the MOT, 10 minute job, although i haven't heard of anyone on here failing their MOT due to HIDs, but, some advice, cleaning the inside of you headlight glass/lens/projector is a must really if you can do it, bit of a PITA, but massive difference in beam projection and quality...

this new stuff added to the MOT Regs was Posted December/Jan

so theres only till the end of this year when it becomes afective

its not just the bulbs he would need to remove its all the wiring and the Balist, electroincs that go with it

i know its a bitch thats why when i converted my other car to HID's i used Projectors

as these focus the light beem corectly

using the HID in Normal reflectors would have a much larger beem patten hence this is why alot of cars with it Glar/blind you

the 300's have projectors in the low beam and so it's OK....

I posted about these proposed changes some time back and most people paid no head to the proposals... also too hard to police.

if you find the actual proposal and read though you will find it's not as harsh as the people reporting it make out.

The Z has Projectors as standard, it does not suffer with Glare after fitting HID's like regular halogen headlights.

They probably still wont meet the regulations though becuase of the other rules, but its only a few mins to replace them for mot with halogen bulbs if they do fail them. You would'nt need to remove the ballasts and wiring - if they are not plugged in then it cant be failed on them - Plus they are only simple 'plug and play' anyway.

Upgrading the stock Z headlights to HID's is one of the best modifications you can make, even If you do have to replace them at MOT time at some point in the future.
