Hi boffins !!!

I have spoken with Groover about being offered a new V8 engin. I am considering doing the conversion but have little mechanical knowlege. But I want to do this as a project. My zed has a good working engin and gearbox on a 1994 UK manual TT with good turbos and uprated injectors to 555. (327 on rolling road)

I may as well sell these as I cant have two engins in same car.......(mmmmm.. could I ) nope, not worth considering..lol. I am getting the full speck on the engin (no gearbox with V8) and will look at cost before I finally make a decision.

Is there anyone in the South of England who has done this and who may be available for a chat please.

Thanks everyone.

Little mechanical knowledge and want to do a V8 conversion on a 300zx? Good luck to yous!

Thought the exact same thing, Sonic006 if I can give you any advice is to NOT do this, this is a rare conversion in the UK and it takes skills you say you do not have, equipement and tools that I guess you do not have and most of all time and non of us have enough of that matey!

You mention how well your zed runs now with a good strong engine etc. so why change it? I am all for diy learning and adventure but really do you want maybe 2 years of building the project so no zed for that time?

Use it and enjoy it as is, and if you ever decide to sell it, many more potential buyers would be availble to you ,

Good luck in what ever you decide.

Very good advice Jeff, below are the details of the engine I have been offered for your info and for those in the club. All comments are welcome.

V-8-cylinder 4.1 L VH41DE

4.1 L-DOHC-V8 (VH41DE), 270 PS (199 kW; 266 hp)

VH41DE

The VH41DE is a 4.1 liter V8 that was based on the VH45DE. The bore of 93 mm remained but the stroke was shortened to 76 mm. Power output for the new engine was 268 hp (200 kW) at 5600 rpm and 278 lb•ft (377 N•m) at 4000 rpm.

The 4.1 L VH41DE was used in the following vehicles:

 1997-2001 Infiniti Q45, 267 hp (199 kW), 278 lb•ft (377 N•m)

 1992-1993 Nissan Leopard, 270 hp (201 kW) 370,69 nm

 1991-1996 Nissan Cima Y32, 270 hp (201 kW) 370,69 nm

The VH series consists of 4.1 and 4.5 liter engines from the Nissan Motor Corporation. The design consists of a 90 degree V8 with an aluminum cylinder block that features a closed upper deck and a deep skirt. The cylinder heads are also aluminum with a DOHC 4-valve design and pentroof combustion chambers.

I've got a VH45DE in mine, if you want to have a chat about it drop me a PM.

It's not a job for the feint hearted!

Well i'm just about to sell up my 6.3 litre Chevy V8 conversion which basically needs the engine taking to a specialist to set up and dyno (Knight Motorsport in Daventry would do a fine job) and all the brackets, manifolds and adapters are made up.

The only thing you'd need to do is get the prop lengthened and centre exhaust section lengthened to fit the long wheel base but these are £100 a job.

If you're interested in knowing what's involved let me know and i could have 99% of the package you'll need to complete the build with just bolt on goodies.

I had it on the road, went to the dyno and hit a couple of problems which needed someone in the know to sort out (rockers loosening off on one side and low oil pressure (which is down to a plug i forgot to fit internally under the oil pump).

I've ran out of cash after £17,000 dumped into the project and i'm back in my NA for the time being. I'm not looking for anything near that amount for the kit and it'd be nice to see someone complete it :)

My name's Nick and my number's 07791 210051, give me a bell if you're interested buddy.

Nothing yet, i was toying with the idea of whacking a 2.5/3.0 Straight 6 Turbo Diesel out of a 3/5 series into a zed as a daily driver but still bags of torque/a nice 6 cylinder sound and 50+ mpg with BMW reliability

That i would like to see youth!, shame about your v8 project, why dont you use the same shell and sell the lump, its a lovely shell!, god luck with the elecs from the bmw, see if you could bring across there idrive system aswell!, cheers chris

That's the plan buddy, keep the shell, sell the engine then i'm picking up Rigg's TT write off on Tuesday next week and put the engine/loom etc in my car and get it on the road (hopefully before xmas!)

best of luck just getting mine back on the road now!, that spoiler looks A1 by the way cheers, let us know if ya got any more bits lying around from breaker!, cheers

bet its not pearl white tho!

Um no! Anyway back on topic before we take the poor lad's thread over - so yes the V8 conversion and all the brackets, flanges, pipes and adapters will be up for grabs as a bolt on kit for one lucky person :(
