A problem has started with my windscreen wipers today. They won't turn off no matter what postion the switch is in.

It is a 1995 uk model.

This is what happens in the various switch postions:

Switch postion - Wipers

Off - Low Speed

Intermittent - Low Speed

Low Speed - Low Speed

High Speed - High Speed

Please can you give me any advice, many thanks,

Jay

In the drivers side kick plate where all the fuses are, at the very bottom there are various relays and plugs, disconnect the plug going to a small white box about 3in x 2in.

Wipers should now work normally except the intermittant option.

If thats the case you need another wee box (soz the name escapes me lol)

However with this disconnected your dash will not light up at night when your headlights are on.

If that doesn't work, then it can actually be the wiper motor.

sounds like a short circuit which would be a case of some electrical wizardry to find. I think the wiper relay box is next to the small fuse box in the engine bay its a grey box either that or the motor id say. case of trying the different bits to see what fixes it.

have read it could be the ampifier is this so if it is where abouts is it please

Hi, Jay C is my other half, she put the thread up for me as I wasn't logged in.

What is this white box that you mentioned? Is this something to do with the amplifier.

I am still trying to work my way around all the controls etc as its my first 300.

Many thanks,

Bob

Yep thats it Bob.

This is starting to become a fairly common prob with the wipers, simply unplug the connector and see if wipers work as normal EXCEPT the intermittent part, if they do, then there yer go.

If not, then obviously it's something else.

Here what the unit looks like, its the white intermittent timer unit, the green relay is for the fuel pump, they are located behind the drivers side kick panel .

Time control unit controls the intermittent wiper time, you may have a burnt track on the circuit board or plug come loose. The TCU is another little opaque box behind the drivers kickpanel, bottom of the door frame just above the floor. As Jeffs pic above

Have you checked the wiper switch? are you getting clicks when you move the switch?

Or change the wiper amp.

You would be unlucky to have had 2 TCU not working, the TCU also controls the dash lights dimming etc.

Its in the engine bay, drivers side inner wing near the aiv solenoid and small fuse box. Little gry/white unit. The front wiper plug is just above the brake master cylinder, so you can follow the small loom to it.

This happened to mine, I replaced the wiper motor and all was fine. I was told that the "pin" inside the motor was either dirty or worn and no longer "being seen" by the reciever, there for, it was not moveing, so it didn't need to stop.
