Window wipers and going fast!

Hugely technical point I know, but does anyone know the best way to encourage your window wipers to actually wipe water from the wind screen when you are going over 60mph? Do you have to get them little window wiper spoilers like on a Mk I Escort!

Cheers,

Yep, afraid so.....little aerofoil thingy to keep it pushed against the window at speeds greater than 60mph....

Use Rain-X, then you seldom need the wipers above about 45mph.

Halfords have got some in now for the 300 and the spoiler is not as obvious.

Be wary of wipers with aerofoils. I have some and I think they make things worse. My theory is that because the Z screen is more steeply raked than your average car the aerofoils are set at the wrong angle and wind gets underneath the aerofoil lifting it off the screen.

Rain-x or similar sounds a good idea.

Wait on guys, I have tried all sorts of wiper types to sort this and even tried Nissan`s and they were crap and bloody expensive!!anything over 80mph and they lifted off the screen.

Strage but true I came across some wipers in a carbon fibre look with a small deflector and they work well, no lift even up to 100mph+ (private road officer) and here is the nice bit they are like £2:50+vat each at my wholesalers?? wicked!.

I bought some new Champion (I think?) VX wipers that have a built in spoiler that sits in front of the rubber and so is not really visible.

Problem is they stick to the screen so well that above 80mph the wiper motor doesn't have enough power to move them past vertical. I look like a touring car with the blades parked upright until I alow down and they start working again!

I've RainX'ed my windscreen for the time being, although Jeff's £2.50 solution is my kinda talk!

I use the Bosch jobbies (with aerofoils) from Harry's with no problems at all. The driver's side has a spoiler on it (not sure if this is standard on UK spec cars but the wiper arm has an aerofoil on it too).

Problem I've got is making the screen-wash go anywhere near the windscreen at more than 60mph (works fine at low speed). I get a nice foam building up at the bottom of the windscreen, gradually spraying itself around the end of the wiper blades. Best bet is to wait for the car in front to wash, then get a quick wipe in...
