Finally today, 3 days later than planned, my Z is fully MOT'd and Taxed again. Took it for a drive to the Shell station, filled it up, got a quote for getting the sills painted and dropped some food off for the missus at work, then came home and fixed my drivers side power door locking (Thanks to Yowser for pointing me at the 2wire solenoid kit on ebay, worked a treat) and then drained my rad (Still had some flush in it) and bled the cooling system the old fashioned way, nose up, arse down, running, with no rad cap and the heater on. Not bad for a day I reckons. :D

Unfortunately the heater still doesn't work, but I have a few more drains to do to completely flush the system out of the flush, so we'll see. Got the coil pack connectors that ZX-TT sent to me, so picking up some heat shrink tomorrow and fitting them, then the last remaining job, is to replace the plenum, perform the appropriate bypasses and hopefully fix my last little boost leak while I'm under there, then it's just enjoy the Z until winter, when it comes off the road, engine out and gets fully rebuilt from the ground up! WOW

I'm happy again :balloon:

Woop Woop..... Great news matey, well done, another happy zedder.....

Alz.

Yip very happy. Shame there is still so much to do, but at least it's road legal again, and let's not forget safe, plus it got some nice upgrades along the way, coilovers, HID lights, grooved front discs, Green stuff front pads, rear strut brace, turbo timer, and got loads of the engine fixed with Mikeys help (He did most of the work) whilst replacing the cam belt (He literally did all of that, except I put the tensioners on :D). Unfortunately, now I have to resist the urge to go drive it all day since I work from home. :(

Well credit where credit is due mate, my car would not be back on the road and certainly not in the much better condition it's in without your help mate. It'd probably still be sat in the garage with no cam belt on it, lol.

Great news alex :) and to think you nearly broke it for spares lol. Looking forward to seeing it again, and btw that bootlid is still in my garden lol

Good stuff, been following most of your work threads on it...glad it's turned good. Reminded me of how good I felt after I got mine back on the road.

Bootlid? Did I ask you to keep one for me? lol Whoops, well I still need one, I can't remember, was it rust free? Spoiler on it? I seriously have memory gaps atm, lol.

Yeah nearly broke it for spares, had an offer of £1000 to buy it as it was, which I considered, but thankfully didn't take, although my bank manager isn't very happy because I did it all in 6 weeks rather than 6 months, I'm happy because it's running again, better than ever too. Just need to replace the PTU and my idle should improve a lot (We tested Mikeys and it purrrrrrrred) and of course the other stuff mentioned at the top of the thread.

Yeah cheers, I'm dead chuffed. Will feel even better when it's been painted and finally get the last engine niggles done, but the big hurdle (The sills) is done now and the car should last for some years to come without rust in major structural areas :D

spot on mate if that was you that going past garage in bentley it sounds real sweat :)

you saying he's got a sweaty car mat, lmao.

SWEET ,ha.

lol that was me mate, you might not remember me of old, but you once had a young apprentice named Dean Hope, I was one of his mates at the time :D Had a crappy old Orion Ghia that failed it's MOT in your garage, lol.

I had just been down to see my sprayer in the industrial estate just before the railway bridge to get a quote for getting the sills sprayed, now booked in on 5th July.

Sounds even better now me and Mikey just fixed the balance bar leak so it's running really nice.
