this is doin my head in, every now and agin (not all the time) when im driving i get this random "bing bing bing bing" and so on , kinda like the noise when the doors open, but sounds like its coming from behind me??? cud be wrong on the location of said bing, but sounds like that, any ideas? DOING MY HEAD IN :rant:

lol i had this if its a Jap car there is a Speed chime that goes bing bing bong when u reach from a stand still ( 30sec ) 30ish mph and 55mph

Check your jack tools in the boot, if one of the bits are loose in the tray, it will bing lol

As far as i remember it has a potentiometer on the speedo you can adjust so i just moved mine and it only came on after 120mph :)

 

Be warned there are 2 and one is the speedo calibration so be careful

yea its a jap car so must be that... away to remove now

Speed chime goes off at about 65'ish upwards

 

remove the top cown over the speedo (2 screws)

 

The speaker is a black box at the back to the left, connected by yellow and white plug. Its screwed onto a metal bracket.

 

You can just unplug it. That will disable all chimes, or there is a wire you can cut that only disabled the speed chime but I cant remember which, Im sure there is a writeup somewhere.

 

I cant remember if you can see it from just removing the cowl, you may have to pull the clocks out too.
