Hi,

My driver's door drops a few mm when opened and resultantly has 'chaffed' a gouge out of the 'B' pillar.

Can I loosen the top hinge where it bolts to the 'A' pillar and knock it forward a little bit to adjust without too much grief?

By grief I mean having to remove wings or any other ancilliary parts.

Or can/should the hinge pins be replaced?

TIA.

I have the same problem, funnily enough with the drivers door, i haven't tried sorting it yet though so cant help, but will be interested in others replies as well

if i remember right the Washer that holds the bolt in place to align the door has been Weld tagged .. so ajustment can not be made

unless you grind of the tag and then ajust the door again

you could all ways use the bodge way by jacking the door up and forcing the hing the other way :)

I've never done it to a Zed, but with loads of other cars, open the door, get your hands under it and pull it up *disclaimer, might not work, might balls something up, and I also put my back out doing it once :) *

The way i did it a few years ago was to slip a washer between the lower door hinge and the door , remove one bolt , you,ll notice it has shoulders on the bolt , make sure the hole in the washers you,ll be using is big enough for this to go through , loosen the other lower bolt , put your knee under the door and lift it enough for a gap to open up and slip the washer in , put the first bolt back in loose and repeat on the other bolt , now tighten them up .

The thickness of one washer is usually enough to lift your door enough but if the hinges are really worn you might have to double up , only takes ten minutes and is alot easier than trying to move the upper hinge forward on the A post as it,s a real pain to get to the bolts . HTH

Sorry pics aren,t very good

I did think on this but thought that although it would level the door, it would also just push the door further back.

Might look into this.

Thanks for the replies!

As the bottom hinge has probably worn worse than the top all this does is put the door back to where it originally was , don,t forget you,ll be looking at the door gap when it,s closed after it,s been lifted onto the catch so the gap looks ok but as you open it it drops , it,s that drop that this sorts .HTH
