Emissions test in mot..?

My 93 jdm had never had any issues with emmisions as my tester would never probe it. Today I had my mot done to be told that next year I would need a cat as the legislation is changing regarding emissions testing. Any testers on here can confirm this?

 

My tester mentioned that some of his customers with newer, decatted cars go to him with an mot map, does any1 on here have to do this?

    New one on me mate,yes the Emissions are changing (even tougher!) but I don't see it affecting the older stuff,i.e Z's.
