Hi,

I've just bought a 300zx and it's awesome.

I've wanted one for near on 20 years and now I've finally got one!

The car is pretty much tip top, just a couple of minor problems.

I live in Portsmouth and would appreciate it if anyone could advise on a good local garage for servicing.

Many thanks,

Hey Dave,

How's it going?

Car is excellent, just can't get the window washer spray to work.

HICAS light is also on and there is a small leak under the drivers side front wheel.

Thanks for the welcome messages!

Hi Jason

Glad you're loving the car :)

That's strange....window washer definitely worked, it was MOT'd a couple of days before you had it? Prob a dumb question but you have checked there is water in it?

Hadn't seen the HICAS light either....that's the rear wheel steer thingy. Someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to tell you why that's on i'm sure

A leak of what? Not windscreen washer water? Too much coincidence? :/

Enjoy her mate....have you been brave enough to change the boost back to 'High' yet?

Glad you've found the club, these guys are great and know everything!!

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply.

Screenwash is topped up but still no spray. I'll get the old man to take a look.

Topped up power steering fluid but HICAS light stayed on. I think I'll have to run the diagnostic HICAS test to see what that comes up with and go from there.

Pretty sure the leak is oil. Gonna get the car serviced soon once I find a reputable garage. They will hopefully find the cause.

Had the boost on high on a few straights. All I can say is that it's effing amazing!

Any ideas on the performance figures because it feels bloody fast?

Anyway, cheers Dave, well pleased with the car!

Sorry Ian, got you guys mixed up!

Would have made sense if the leak was PS fluid as if the level was low that would cause the HICAS light to come on. Had a search through some previous HICAS posts and have copied and pasted this for you....I can't claim credit for it as it's someone elses comments :p

Check the fluid level yourself from cold. Fluid loss or leaks is the main cause of the light coming on.

If OK check the connection at the actual cap top and loom connector.

If thats OK then have a look at the main ecu connector under the pass side carpet. If they have done an ecu upgrade then they will have removed this to replace the chip and socket it etc. Maybe when they have refitted it they have overtightened the connector (held in place by 10mm?? bolt). If overtightened it can bend this connector and this can create bad connections! The main ecu will talk to the PAS/HICAS ecu thru this loom. If so slacken the bolt and make sure it looks good, straight and home.

If that looks ok then check the PAS ecu as its close to the main ECU - its possible they have disturbed it, but unlikely.

After that I would be looking at where the boost controller is plumbed in and where its wired into the cabin. Maybe if done close to the steering wheel they have disturbed the wheel angle sensor or something. My first suggestions are more likely though.

Glad you've given it a go with the boost up. It changes the car completely! I wouldn't like to put a figure on it...some people massively overestimate these and it's not been on a rolling road to see. Similar club cars with similar mods are running around 350bhp so best guess would be somewhere around that

Glad you're loving the car....look after her. If you pay your £20 and join the club you'll have access to the wider forum and be able to post wanted ads for parts....well worth the £20 IMO :)

Cheers Dave, thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Will definitely look after the car. Decided I'm only gonna use it at weekends!

What do you think the 0-60 is?:thumbup1:

No probs at all mate, everyone on here is very helpful...I knew nothing about these when I bought one and still don't know much now but everything I do know is down to the guys on here.

Yeh, i said that when i bought it.....and then got addicted, a 160bhp Insignia just can't compete!!

Best guess would be just under 5 seconds....if you can get traction!! Don't go trying it on damp roads!!.....well, not until you've got used to it anyway!! :p
