Want to change wheel bearings

Hi,

 

I need to change my wheel bearings; I think Jeff told me it was best to change the while of something because by the time I have got the old ones out the hub or something it will be knackered.

 

Anybody know what it is I have to do before I waste my money just getting the bearings done?

 

Not sure what wheels are humming eitheryet.
