I'm in the process now of pulling the engine from the shell and stripping the block down.

Assuming that all the work and forged components that Ztech were paid for, are good and present

What's the going rate for a block rebuild?

cheers

Block only £2k + trouble is that has to be concidered a part rebuild only and no warranty could be emplied due to the rest of the engine been unknown condition, to be fair any builder with any decency will explain the ins and outs of part builds and advise accordingly.

Given the previous and dubious engine work my guess is who ever you get to do the rebuild will want the whole engine, just so there are no surprises along the way, best to budget for a full rebuild and then anything less is a bonus, speak with Jimmer, he will sort you out.

You might be in for a shock there as Jimmer pulled an engine a couple of months ago that was supposed to have that spec from ZTECH and it most certainly did not. The owner is now chasing Chris (ZTECH) through the Courts.

This happens all too much.......

Mechanics saying they are rebuilding/upgrading/fitting aftermarket products to our 300's and we believe these people......

But, in reality they do not........

They just fit parts, (if indeed they do) and charge you for the so called parts, yet nothing has changed to ur zed.

Happened to me some years ago.... only come to light when "jimmer" rebuilt my 300 engine, then you can see what you have really paid for........NOTHING!!!!

Will only trust a few people now on my zed..... Jimmer, Zedworld, John Dixon, Andyp, Mr Feeny.

Alz.

would that be with parts, or are thay extra?

the above quoted amount includes Wiseco pistons, cometic head gaskets, 60k service kit, bearings and other bits and bobs (timing belt tensioners etc). Basically you'll have a near standard engine in fine fettle. If you want to uprate parts above and beyond those mentioned, then that will cost extra..

forgot a few things

So that would bring it back to 300ish, I don't think mine is making it with the boost turned off. it is gesstemated at 450, would a standard engine take that much?

Mine is fairly modified (see my rides for the build that jimmer did) and that didnt make 450.

Made 433 at the fly with 17psi.

If you mean - someone has fitted a boost controller and turned it upto max, without any other engine mods - then yes your engine is probably fooked. If you're not running boost I assume this is because you have a problem? A healthy engine, running standard boost will make somewhere between 270-300+ horsepower depending if its had air filter, cat back system etc etc.. This is what you would expect to see, power wise.

It is as I bought it, and said to have air filter, racing ecu, single exhaust system, programable 4 channel boost controller with the high setting at 1.2b. I normally run ch1 30% and ch2 60% then there is ch3 80% and ch4 100%=1.2b. I cant stop ch3 hitting the limiter and ch4 sounds like its pinking so they dont get used.

What you have listed is very typical upgrade mods, and you dont really want to be running more than 1.0 bar (14.5 psi), for risk of running lean.

Expected power with that setup with everything in good running order would typically be anything from 350-380 bhp (flywheel) with 1 bar boost.

I'd be interested to see what the courts would do in this instance

Let's for example say that 'a garage' took £12,000 off a person for a top spec engine build including parts/labour etc, but in fact the garage actually supplied a stock engine, no upgraded parts etc

As in ^^^ instance the engine is subsequently stripped at a later date and found to be a dud

Is that a civil matter or a criminal matter?

Let's again say that the garage did this to several customers over a period of time, that's a substantial sum of money that the garage has pocketed for supplying nothing (surely that is blatant theft and therefore a criminal matter)

Undoubtebly the police wouldn't agree that it was a criminal matter, until that it, the owners who had been ripped off went around to 'the garage' and kicked seven shades of sh*t out of the thieving flange!

Then the courts would no doubt compensate 'the garage' owner for distress and physical injury suffered.....

Not sure the Aussie' system is quite so....how shall I say....'Bone as f*ck!'

This is what happened to the guy i know,he paid 5k for a fully forged engine and got a s/hand nailed together pile of shit with high mileage pistons and worn bearings that eventaully span on no3 main.

It makes me F-----G mad when out of the blue this rip off mechanincs (lol) name crops up. He had me for 2K; courts can't do nothing to a man who say's he's bankrupt. :asshole:

Forgot to add.......Defo go for a build with someone you can trust. You wont go wrong if they are recommended on here; Jimmer is your man.
